P1424 code

I just bought myself a Monaco Blue 56 plate ZMC with 53k on the clock :D about 100 miles into my 500 mile trip home yesterday I slowed down to 40 MPH due to freezing fog and I saw the EML (yellow) come on. The car was still running fine so I pulled off the motorway to check under the bonnet......everything seemed fine so I continued my journey home but constantly checking the light was not changing to red. When I got back I plugged in my OBD ll reader and it came up with code P1424 which Google said was Mass air flow meter. I was able to clear the fault and started the car with no EML. I will try driving the car later today and see what happens. What I'm thinking is that it was maybe the sudden temperature change with hitting the bank of freezing fog that confused the sensor/ECU?? Anyone else experienced this??
Apart from this I really enjoyed the car, it does have a tendency to tram line so there is definitely something amiss, the previous owner said that it was an alignment issue as the front tyres are worn more on the inside. The car has just been mot,ed so it should not be bush or track rod end related.

Cant offer any advice on the fault code, but the tram lining could be run flat tyres, if you do a search on the forum its a popular subject, there again if the seller informed you of a issue it may not be the case.

Maybe you're getting a bit confused, ha ha. M cars don't come with run flats.
To the op, yes get the alignment checked, these cars can be very sensitive to geo.
Difficult to say on your fault code, I would just wait and see. The car will run ok even without the maf plugged in so I wouldn't be overly concerned just yet.
 
As above no runflats on Ms buddy
My 224 wheels Oem z4m wheels if didn't know as new owner, tramlined as had horrid m3 conti tyres on
Put new Michelin supersports on and tadaaaaa all gone
But so are wheels are CSLs on
Check tyre pressures too
But look at tyres buddy

The tyres that are on are Vredestein ultrac Sessanta's they are getting near the limit for being legal, the rears are the same but with only under 1K miles on them. The EML light has not reappeared after a 10 mile run :D so I guess it must of been the sudden temperature change that set it off. I have now pressure washed and hand washed all the salt off before it's put away for the Winter. I'm intending replacing the discs and pads and do some more research into replacing the B/End shells, which seems to be a hot topic at the moment!!

N yeah mostly oil abuse caused I'd say
I change every 3k
 
My tramlining was cured by replacing the control arm rear bushes so worth checking them out for condition
 
I will have a look when I get back from Offshore, there was a couple of times that It almost felt as though the car was steering from the back when tram lining.!!
