Over zealous alarm starting to wind me up

On about 4 or 5 occassions now my alarm has been activated for no apparent reason. I go out stop the alarm, unlock the car and then lock it again only for it to go off again. Its hasnt happened in the middle of the night yet but its coming. I've checked there is nothing in the car that could be moving to activate it. Is this an issue anyone else has come accross? I'm going to get it booked in to see if the dealer can sort it before it wakes me and my neighbours up at some ungodly hour.

Cheers

Not sure if this is the cause of your problem but a friend had similar issues with his 5 series.
Turned out to be the bonnet switch.

bonnet switch on Z4 is the most common cause of false alarms, so first thing to check.

Is this a straight forward fix that I could do myself or should I get the dealer to sort it under warranty ?

If it's still under warranty then just take it to the dealer. IIRC though it's just a faulty sensor that needs replacing. Should be easy.

the switch itself is about £8 and takes 2 minutes to fit... and solved mine :D

as others have said if you have warranty you may as well use it

If a car is under warranty but a person wants to fix it themselves then do they still get the part for free?

if it's under warranty take it back in it's liable to be a faulty door or bonnet contact switch but could also be a few other things

when we check the car we can access a part called DWA alarm activations which stores the last 10 or more alarm activators i.e. if one switch has activated the alarm 10 times then it's fairly obvious which switch needs replaced

hope this helps
