Over the top fitting costs!

A large clunk happened when driving to work the other day, turned out it was the drivers window and the window regulator needs replacing. The window automatically went back up but has locked there since.

The part in my opinion is way over priced at £103 plus VAT if you look at what the part consists of, but being quoted £240 by BMW in Bromley for the cost of it being fitted.... How do these people sleep at night.

So that's a cost of approximately £380 for a window regulator fitted without the window or the motor actually being broke, unbelievable

Contacted a few garages, they mentioned that for the x and z series most parts are bmw order only as they aren't made avaialalbe for other specialists to order so Ican't seem to get around the cost of it new from bmw but I guess a specialist will fit it for less.

Breakers is a good idea!

Remember you can ask for 10% discount at the parts department. I have the BMW membership that guarantees that, but srhutch gets that as well without that as well.

if it's out of warranty.. try a specialist? get a regulator from a breakers ? :)

I agree, try a specialist, more often a far better service than main stealer. Also cheaper for no lesser quality of workmanship.

Friend who looks after my Z4 works for BMW and said if you can get a genuine BMW part he will fit it if you are interested i will find out how much.

I take it you are South East based that you mentioned Bromley.
