I'm out for a holiday with my e89 and a mate in his 3.0 e89. As is the way, when you can do it and do it as safe as you can we drove our cars at high speed for prolonged periods. On one run we both had our roofs down and he like me could not get more than 140 mph. Mine I n fact felt like it was being limited to that speed as there was a defenate loss of power. Didn't know that this feature existed. Today with roof up I achieved 150 mph before I bottled it as there were too many other vehicles. It felt super at up to 130 mph but as speed rose the cross winds made life a bit more in predictable.

Any way, this is the fastest I have driven a road car on public roads. Cherry well and truly busted ;-)

nice one

the fastest i have driven there was 135mph in an mr2 turbo, that got scary as the front began to feel very light indeed and a passenger in a supra tt at 165mph, that felt very planted though as its a heavy car

havent done more than 120mph in the z4 though and that was only once

I did 150 a few times...only issue is people pulling out in front of you....and using too much petrol. And it takes concentration too. Easier in a bigger saloon car.....but glad I've done it though

Enjoy your trip.

I'm of the same mind as Stark. I've lived in Germany for 4 years now. I only did one max effort blast in the Zed. You have to intrust your life to far too many others on the autobahn. And like most other countries, the lorry drivers absolutely can't be bothered to look in the mirror prior to pulling into the go fast lane.

The Zed is all about corners any way.

Interesting fact - Germany was the first country to have an air ambulance in association with the ADAC ( similar to our AA and RAC ) - it was initially developed in order to recover the bits left over from people involved in accidents on the Autobahn.

150 seems fast the first few times you get there.

I find that as you get 140, anything after that seems to be exponentially quicker. Scary, but also good fun

Having your rear spoiler decimated by a low flying pidgeon at a GPS indicated 203mph tho is not so fun...
Even less fun for the guy behind you at similar speeds, who's windscreen now resembles the floor of a butchers shop!

I've only ever managed 135 on the Autobahn before the limiter in the passengers seat starts to stamp her feet and shout :D

It's very hard to concentrate on driving when that's going off :headbang:
