Outpouring of “grief”...

Anyway, if the building was that important, why didn't the little baby jesus put the fire out - or stop it happening in the first place :P

It may well be true that the church has billions but in the case of Notre-Dame cathedral it’s not owned by the church but by the French State, which is probably why it was allowed to get into such a state of disrepair

He couldn't stop it happening 'cos it was started by something else that doesn't exist...

We have 3 cars in our family the 2 under my signature and a Daihatsu Terios which we use for shopping etc and when it snows over the winter here in the Pennines. The Jag is a so called dirty diesel which I won’t be getting rid of any time soon. We will soon be heading for France where along with all the other locals we have a wood burning stove. I will avoid preaching to others about polluting the atmosphere or about what the French should spend their money on. :poke:

Part of me wishes there actually was a massive thunderstorm that came from nowhere and put the fire out. Can you imagine how much that would f*ck with people’s heads? And then a booming voice from the heavens that said “please stop aiming your telescopes at my arsehole!”.

Must admit, it was a very sad day for me. The media coverage was totally overblown and tedious, but I think it’s only natural that there was a profound display of collective empathy with all of the consciousnesses, past and present, that that something as iconic as Notre Dame has touched.

Also, at any given point in time in France there are a lot of people chopping onions, so the crying always looks worse than it actually is.

I always said spontaneous combustion was a Catholic guilt 'thing' but no-one wanted to listen to me.
Now I have the last laugh! Now they will listen...
loool

Whilst the Notre Dame fire is a shame I find it at best perculiar, at worst a complete and utter slap in the face to the natural world the amount of ‘grief’ shown by this fire.

The tragedy to me is how so few people don’t seem to get so emotional about the devastation of the rain forests, reefs, plastic in the oceans etc, etc, etc, far too many to list. :(
I was surprised the Man in the sky let this happen! Surely a dedicated localised monsoon wouldnt have been too hard to arrange to put it out before it took hold. Pretty easy after parting the red sea and feeding 5k with a few loaves and fishes ! 🤔 Also the amount of monies pledged for rebuilding notre dame whilst Aleppo lies in ruins with its inhabitants displaced and homeless 😖

Apparently as I said you have ask him into your life...then with rain storms to put fires out, Aleppo etc etc, he apparently doesn’t work that way....seems like there’s an excuse for him every which way.

Beats the f**k out of me what he actually DOES do.....doesn’t seem much tbh.....

To be fair to him, it must be hard to get things done when you've got the whole world in your hands all day every day! :tumbleweed:

Is it just me? When I hear or read "little baby jesus", in my head I am hearing Clarkson :D

I think the difference between a church and the earth rape, is that the earth rape is being done by us, and big business is involved and doesn't give a rats arse about the damage caused.
The building is steeped in history. Not least some hunchback who took to hanging around. Fires and wars often bugger up buildings which are constantly rebuild and often extended. As noted, the church has lots of money but never uses it on these occasions but simply holds it's hand out.

Yes of course.. Didn't he give him an Xbox? That will explain everything, he was playing on his Xbox and didn't notice the small fire on his little church. Tsk tsk

While most might believe that the Catholic Church owns the cathedral, Notre Dame is actually owned by the French government so why would the church pay for repairs?

He was on holiday, just like the time he took a well earned break during the holocaust ....

In all honesty I feel very strongly that mother nature should hit the reset button and wipe out the human race and leave just the animals, I would like it to be in the distant future however and give me a few more years to keep enjoying my Zed :D
