outdoor cover problems

When I used to garage my Elise for the winter with a cover, every spring when the car was uncovered the paint would have developed small pimples over most of the car.
This was a little alarming until I realised that after a few days normal heat/sunshine they'd disappear completely.
I guess it was a fibreglass thing.
 
i kept my 964 in garage through winter under a cheap matalan kingsixe duvet :) & that's not a joke 8) mrs w was heard to mutter " why not just sleep under the cover yourself " :o

Contacted BMW about the marks on mine. They have agreed to put it through their body shop to try and get rid of the marks. Will also be looking for a solution on the cover, will let you know what happens
 
did you buy the cover from bmw?

i got mine off ebay so don't think bmw would give me any time

Mmmmm - don't quite agree - advertising your car on your driveway may make the neighbours envious :oops: but also advertises it to those 'sh*ts' who cruise the streets looking for easy pickings :thumbsdown: :thumbsdown:

Don't live in a 'rough' area. Nice village location with friendly neighbours in a cul-de-sac. Never been one problem in all the 36 years I've lived there. :wink:

Well the BMW OEM Cover has a huge BMW logo on the front, right across the bonnet. So kind of says whats lurking beneath.
 
Result!

So my car had similar marks to those reported by Taz. Took it along to BMW this morning and left it with their bodyshop for the day, they diagnosed as Paint Sweat (didn't know there was such a thing). Anyway washed, polished, moped and cleaned inside. All marks gone and looks tiptop.

what's the difference in the BMW cover and those specialised covers? will you still not get paint sweat?

It looks like a much better material with the outside not being that rubberised bonded material.
