Changed engine oil and filter today this is how i went about it, my drive slopes downhill so i reversed car up it then laid 3 house bricks in front of front wheels and got better half to let me know when i was onto the centre brick, hand brake on and rear wheels chocked, this gave me just enough clearance to run trolley jack up to centre jacking point raised jack head without jack handle in till it was located correctly then put in handle and raised front of car to desired height small lever movements at first then place axel stands under side front jacking points and removed trolley jack, then located cover to expose drain plug, loosened drain plug with 17mm socket , back to top side, removed oil filler cap. Placed oil catching bowl under drain plug and removed drain plug, then back to topside and removed oil filter assembly, removed old filter and three o rings then cleaned filter assembly up and with new oil lubricated filter sealing rings and three new o rings, by this time draining oil had stopped dripping so put new copper or brass washer on drain plug and re fitted, back to topside re fitted filter assembly with care then dug out the measuring jug and poured 3 litres of oil into rocker filler cap, replaced cap and fired her up for couple of minutes , checked for any leaks then added a further 1 litre, filler cap on then ran her for 5 mins and check the oil reader computer and it read all ok, i will monitor for a couple of days and then top up with remaining quarter litre making four and one quarter litres in total, replaced drain plug cover and secured with screw, Placing car back on deck was reversal of lifting.ps, the removed oil was as black as soot.you get a good feeling knowing engine is running with new blood, Next job is replacing lube in gearbox and diff. Cheers all Barry

such a tiny oil filter, I hope this is the same size as the 3.0 engine, much smaller and easier to remove than the traditional oil filters of my rover mini and the ford focus.
