 By the seaside...
As the cold weather seems to have taken a leave of absence, I thought it was about time to bring #320 out of her 'car-hole'
and into the light...

Apart from a brief outing on New Year's Day, this is how she's spent the last 5 and a bit months

Remove the cover, the wheel wedges and power for the trickle charger, and underneath...

So out into the sunlight to see what effect the winter storage has had on her general condition

Surprisingly little, she's still all glossy... which is nice :)
I have some new graphite grey spoiler graphics to go on when it's warm enough to lie on the ground

She started first time and, while she was warming up, I dropped the top...

It's nice to have her back 8)

For winter storage
- I give her a good clean and wash/dry and apply wax or decent sealant (just as you would normally)
- Some leather conditioner on the seats (just as you would normally)
- Full tank of petrol
- Increase tyre pressures by about 5psi as this helps stop the tyres developing flat spots
- Park with handbrake off and place wheel chocks to stop movement (my garage is on the flat so I just put one wedge in front of the rear tyre and one behind the front tyre)
- Connect a trickle charger to the battery (even the smallest/cheapest CTEK is good for this)
- Every couple of weeks I remove the wheel chocks and push the car forwards/backwards a bit to rotate the tyres so the weight is on a different section
- About once a month I start the engine, allow it to get up to full operating temperature and idle for another 10mins or so

I think that's everything, some people like to put a sock over the exhaust as they're concerned about mice

She's looking great, Perry: just need those decals on the chin, now 8) (the car's, not yours!).

Over-wintered ours in a very similar fashion and it worked fine. She had a weekend away in early Feb, and a couple of drives around the block to warm her through on totally dry, salt-free days. All is well. The main things are battery maintenance and moving them on the wheel bearings a few times to prevent load damage, and if started, run them until they are fully heat-soaked (not long in an RS!).

Er, no! :lol: Ask Mark about de-gingered Red and I'd say Black looks better with ginger having seen some of the efforts on other black cars :P however, let's not crap-up this thread with that discussion!

Be fair Mark, he didn't say that it doesn't look good de-gingered... Red Alpinas just look good..... period!
