Can't understand why The Met are involved?
The gatherings, which is what the "parties" are considered to be in the garden of number 10 are not breaking the Covid regs in any way shape or form. That part of the regulations only cover public places and downing street is not a public place.

Yes the Control of Diseases Act does cover Downing Street which is Crown Estate, but it is not a public place. So garden parties are off limits to the Police investigation.

What is in the Police remit is Starmers breach in Durham.

Suspect this may draw down some fire and Brimstone?

They are investigating criminality :idunno:
Having a party in a garden doesnt make it off limits, there were plenty of people that were issued FPN for garden parties and besides its highly unlikely that at no point the people there didnt migrate inside in sufficient numbers to constitute a breach. Also, we have been told it was "just a work get together in the garden bro" but that doesnt mean thats actually true.

Not sure why you think non public places are off limits to the police either, gatherings indoors and outdoors were limited, regardless of where they took place. Police still investigate murders in private gardens :rofl:

True Police do investigate offences in private gardens, but,

R. 9 prohibits a person from participating in an outdoor gathering;
1) of more than two people in a public outdoor place or;
2) two or more people in any other outdoor place (including any outdoor part of a private dwelling, which would include private gardens)

Downing Street is not a public place nor is a private dwelling or garden, it is classed as being a Crown Estate. The Covid legislation quoted above does not refer or apply to Crown Estates.

In addition;
There are 14 listed exceptions to the prohibitions in R. 8, R. 9 and R. 10. Note that these are the only exceptions permitted. They include:

1) gatherings reasonably necessary for certain stated purposes. These include, work, education, training, emergency assistance, providing care to a vulnerable person and moving house.

So if you work at Downing Street you can participate in a gathering. :)

So one rule for them another for us, through pure technicality
If that's their defence.... best of luck

This is where the spirit of the law and the letter of the law are important concepts.

At least we have got past 1984, although Big Brother seems to be alive and kicking.

The thing to remember is they are not putting forward that as a defence. Have you heard any politician or civil servant saying this?

No!

But it is something the Met police will come up against and I am surprised Cressida Dick has not been advised of this, backed off and just let Sue Gray do her stuff

So we now have 5 policy officers resigning within the last day (citing the Saville jab at Starmer)

Sunak has also distanced himself from BoJo

And we are up to potentially 20 no confidence letters to the 1922 committee.

The dam appears to be bursting :fuelfire:

Surely only one cited the Saville jibe with another resigning because her bestie did. The others all resigned before they were pushed

The advisors resigned before they were sacked. Not exactly resigned though, they resigned from their posts as advisors to the cabinet office. I believe they are still Civil Service employees.

Some say it's the start of the clear out before Lynton Crosby arrives and he is more ruthless than Dom Cummings. :o

As for 20 no confidence letters to the 1922 committee, that leaves about 339 that haven't.
