Our Annus Horribilis

Only just found the strength to post this, but as a family we are having what can only be described as a tragic year.

My mum was diagnosed with cancer in January, sadly this took hold & she lost her battle 3 weeks ago aged 74, one consolation to this is that her health went downhill very quickly towards the end & she didn't suffer for too long, also I can be eternally grateful that as a family we all got to say our goodbyes, also comforting was that none of could cannot fault the NHS care that she had in a specialist cancer unit, the NHS is a very special thing & should be appreciated & treasured at all costs, in the end she was made as comfortable as possible.

The same week just 3 days later my uncle, my mums younger brother, was taken with an inoperable brain tumour, oddly & fortunately when he was blue lighted into hospital he ended up in the same ward that my mum was in, they found comfort in being only yards apart, prior to my uncles illness he was fit & healthy & a keen sportsman, aged just 62 & leaves a lovely wife & two young men that he can be very proud of.

We also lost our lovely 18 year old cat a month before my mum, for which I posted here & got great support & comfort from all you lovely people on this forum which I was very grateful for.

Enjoy every day of your life, I'm certainly rethinking about what's important in life much more.....

Sorry to hear that sometimes life is a bitch, we all need to enjoy our time here you never whats round the corner

Take care

Well that puts a lot of things in perspective, a shitty year for you and yours.
Let's hope in 2016 you get a better year.

Oh mate, that's just horrible. Never know the cards we are dealt and what's going to be chucked at us. Nearly a new year so look forwards with hope it will be a good one.
Certainly puts things into perspective and people moaning about car trouble seems ridiculous when you read what you have been through.

Tony, thanks for this post. Must be a very difficult time for you. Difficult to give words of comfort. I'm sure everyone who reads your post understands and cherishes there family and friends.

Genuinely welled up reading this- so sorry for all you have had to go through- I can't even begin to imagine how hard this was to write let alone to deal with! Again- so so sorry for all you have had to bare.
