Only a couple of quid. If you like them go for it. I doubt if anyone would even spot them.
 
I don't think it's the kind of thing you fit so that people will gaze in awe at your modification.

I think they look quite smart and 'finish' off what otherwise looks a little un-finished.
 
Strangely I have never looked at my strikes and thought that they needed to be covered! :lol:

With them being made from ABS plastic and nowhere near any heat, I'd very much doubt they'd go brittle? And if they broke, you're just take em off!
This area doesn't actually get any contact from the door. Only the metal loop does.

I suppose they might improve the looks of striker plates that are starting to get a bit of tarnishing or surface rust but, on the other hand, if your striker plates are in good condition, they're likely to trap moisture which is likely to make them degrade faster....
 
Bought these and fitted them yesterday, very underwhelming but nobody was going to ever notice them. Biggest annoyance is that both covers are exactly the same, so one needs to be fitted upside down... so if you look at the picture of the cover it has a 'D' or some type of character embossed on it, on one side that D is at the top and on the other side it's at the bottom. Minor irritation.
 
A lot of people remove these on 3 series where they come standard, I did on my m3, as they trap moisture and a lot of people with e46s find rust building up there as a consequence.
