erm...is this the list?

* peddy - M MFSW, clear headlights, clear tail lights
* gannet - clear headlights - at a good price of course
* JayT - ///M MFSW
*adey- M MFSW
* a11y - clear headlights (pre-facelift halogen)
* dan_i - clear rears, M-wheel, headlights (depending on price)
* no fit state - Clear Xenon headlights

You're gonna want to get ball park figures up for the items as there is no point having a list if everyone's going to pull out when they discover it'll cost £1400 for xenons or £x for y.

Best bet would be to stick up a shopping list with either RRP or expected price and then get people to leave their names, Realistically a Group Buy is going to get you 10-15% discount.

I've seen Group Buy threads go on forever on other forums, then the genuinely interested people go off and buy the item themselves, so strike while the irons hot :)

after doing a group buy on here, it chicken and egg situation, I found out there is no use going to a dealer with "what can you do me" without some idea of numbers, cos they have to go to BMW direct to get the deal, I would say anyone interested any item, find out what list price is, then add themselves to the list. When I did the hard tops, I cant remember the exact discount but it was something like 25% (nearly £500 !!!), which is far better than 10- 15%, but I had to get a good idea of how many would be up for it first. Also bear in mind what the item costs, E.G. if its £30 to sart with, there is not a lot of margin, so you are not going to get it for £15

To be honest I see a lot of people saying there interested, but not many on the list.

Saying that I should add myself as I am very interested in some clear rear lights :oops:

The way you play it is go to a Dealer and get prices for several levels of interest. "so what prices can you get me if I sell 10 for you, what price for 20, 30 etc"

Ask him what price he'll do you on 0-10, 10-20, 20-30 etc. The exact grouping depends on the item (more specifically it's cost). For example you know you'll get high numbers on a USB cigarette lighter charger but low numbers on a super charger.

That is the best way to do things, I've been involved in many many VW Group Buys on other forums and you'll get a much quicker and more accurate turn around if you can offer ball park figures to start with. An open ended 'add your name to a list' is OK to a point, but the list isn't even item specific.

You need a list per item, and then ball park prices on numbers for each item, from experience that is the quickest way to go.

Then the author of the thread needs to update the first post with something like this:
images.jpg

///M MFSW-
Deadline - ASAP
0-10 = £x <- Current Level
10-20 = £y
20-30 = £z

Names:
Jon
Steve
Colin
Paul

Then people can see what the item is, the cost, and how near the deadline is without trawling through the whole thread. You need a deadline int here as some companies will only run the offer for a specific time.

That would be my suggestion anyway, as I've seen more successful results when they follow a more structured method, but then I am quite anal :oops:
