Encountered a jealous type on my first long distance trip in Red, female in a mini hogging the outside lane of the m'way. I was patient, absolutely didn't tailgate and when she eventually pulled over I got the middle finger.

..because you're doing it all wrong.

Correct procedure is drop two gears, undertake and then swipe back across her bonnet with the smallest gap possible.

Yeh, at least then you will deserve the finger

 no chance of getting the finger though, they can't give it out the passenger window and you've already shot past :driving:

.... aaaaand I've just read your sig.

Interesting comments and dont take this the wrong way but as a Newbie who previously drove a Lotus Esprit I and others on the Lotus forum have moaned about BMW drivers who seem desperate to get past the Esprit at any costs. Now I have moved across to the other side I think it must all be subjective - get out of my way you bloody plastic car!!

I'd have to disagree with most of the post here. I find more people let me in etc, when I'm driving the Zed than in my DD. I do get targeted by Evo man occasionally, not a big problem with that either. It usually takes two to tango, so it's only a problem if you chose to make it one.

i find a lot of people "check out" my car and also have a lot of people trying to race or tail gating on dual carriageway just to try and prove themselves by blasting past when i pull in only to slow down once there past and they realize im not gonna race them (if i didnt have the baby 2.0i then it might be different on the odd occasion, but i have no interest in trying to prove myself to some 19yr old in Type R or VXR thanks  :tumbleweed: :poke: )

X2. I also have the baby 2.0is, people always want to get up my chuff, even van drivers, I just slow down as much as required to pi** them off. doubt it would happen to a 3.0 or a //m.

You do seem to get the eye by a lot of the younger drivers, who want to race and see if they can make you look an idiot. Don't seem to suffer any of that in the week while in the Navara, but then I do not get bullied either :x

Interesting read, this is my first bmw and having the Z4 on the drive Iv had comments from neighbours saying business must be doing well and flash git! Best one though is the guy over the road from us who has a 3 series and thinks he's the muts nuts and Iv clearly put his nose out of joint since his wife knocked on my door and said she loved the Z4 and can she sit in it!! :driving: Husband hasn't spoke to me since lol!

On the road it certainly turns heads pretty shocked just how many stare at it and Iv had the boy racers plus the usual audi boys tail gating me but I never indulge in there alter ego so I just let them go. 8)

To be honest as a drive of BMWs for many years, even driving my parents cars at 17 I've always noticed I get idiots tailgating, trying to pull away like a bat out of hell at lights, constant nudging forward.

It's not a Z4 thing but a BMW badge thing! Even if you have a model designation on the rear, you still get a tool of all ages trying to prove that their sh!t box is a million times better than your car. I'm sure when they get home they give themselves a gold star for it.

When I have my FN2 Type R I actually got respect from most performance car owners and very rarely had anyone trying to prove anything. Only twice, being a MR2 driver who hit 5th gear and I was only in 4th so I still had miles left and the other time on the A1 a bloke old enough to be my dad in a E46 330d Touring who decided as i was passing to put the foot down but it was pointless and he eventually decided to slow up and let me pass.

I get lots of drivers up my rear especially with the roof down and I've cars in front, when it's clear I'm off and their miles behind struggling to keep up. I find all white lower spec and engine 1 and 3 series drivers to be among the worst culprits. I let them get on with it, if they wish to kill themselves or blow their engine up trying to get by me, then go ahead.

Maybe if people actually drove with a bit more care and attention instead of trying to prove a point they would probably save a bit on fuel and possibly be able to afford a nicer car instead of being the jealous prick behind

I've got more of a problem with people not noticing me. Tiny, grey car with shitty sidelights!

Not wanting to sound sexist or anything, and I'm sure you're not unaware of this fact, but you could be getting more attention from plonkers cos your a girl driving fast cars?

But they'd have to first know it was a female driving. Usually it's tools on the road from behind, so unless it's when I have the roof down, which isn't all the time then why would that be a factor? But maybe to some it is, especially the guys in people carriers who have given up on life now they are married and have kids. Or at least their car choice and anger towards others seems to suggest that.

I don't believe the people actually realise if it's a male or female driving, some have a preconceived notion that all drivers of certain cars are ar$eholes and in turn drive like complete and utter dicks. I've seen other forums where people have been more than happy to air their views on how they view and treat other drivers because of the brand of car they drive. One guy went as far as telling us on the Civic forum that he would tailgate any BMW driver until they pulled over to let him pass and then he'd give them the finger as he passed, even if he had no other interaction with that driver until that point.

I've been tailgated on an empty dual carragieway in my Dads M3 with both my parents as passengers. That car seems to attract no end of jokers! No matter if it's me, my Dad or my Mum driving it

I like the Carol M response - sitting at lights next to a wannabe racer, rev the nuts off it, then when the lights change just pull off normally and laugh at the, looking like twats

A couple of years ago I had two people drive into my Zed, both van drivers and both said exactly the same thing 'I didn't see you' the first one being the most silly as I was parked in a car park space and he thought it was empty...
Apart from that I get the usual (van) drivers cutting up the inside/outside, driving on the bumper, all the usual stuff everyone has to put up with everyday.
