OT, BUT: M25 Speed Cams

Hi all,

I'm sorry this is Off Topic but I fear people may not see it in the other forums, so please leave it here a couple of days?

The M25 speed cameras West of London (where i know a few of our members travel regularly) are about to be changed to digital ones, thereby also having their limits newly set to 79mph.

This is happening on Friday 15th Feb!
 
Was that way today, and starting to use more often, will have to be careful, but does it only apply when the variable limit is ib effect?
 
NO.. that's the whole point unfortunately. Previously it did, but now they will be permanently on at (allegedly) 79mph (70 + 10% + 2mph).

It's a huge stretch too, but they will also now all be digital - meaning before they would run out of film - now they'll keep snapping away.

I want to write to my MP....

Is this really true though? To replace the cameras there would have to be works in place? I haven't seen people up in the gantries much lately, let alone through the whole stretch? Scare tactics/rumour perhaps?
