Got a quote from a stealer this morning;

Does this sound reasonable ? or will I be better off getting it done at a private garage?

Get them to check with BMW to see if they can do it as a goodwill guesture. I had both rears done for free at my last service, on an 04 car with 45k.

My car had the rear springs replaced by the former owner and I have a bill for £285.00 from the dealer. I looked at a 3.0 car before buying the one i eventually got and he too had an invoice for nearly £300.00. sounds about the going rate

I paid 260 for both my rear springs to be replaced at a independant specialist.

My nearside spring went outside warrantee - visit to main dealer, phone call to BMW - fixed free of charge.

It does annoy me that they only seem to do one side under warantee... you will have all the pain of taking it to them again when the other side goes twang (not to mention spings sag over age and could have a odd ride height).
