Original MV2's

Hi all,
I have a set of MV2's on my '04 30.i Roadster. As far as I know they are the original wheels. The car according to the spec sheet has factory M sport suspension although its an SE model. There were lots of upgrades, additional speakers, heated leather, sat nav, phone and a nice Olivine paint colour. (I digress) The size on the rear wheels is 265 35 18. I would like some advice on whether thats normal please or has the previous owner shoe horned on wider tyres? Just looking to replace all four. Fronts are 225 40 18's

thanks. Clive.

The MV2 was only fitted at the factory to the post facelift cars so at some point someone has changed them. No biggie the MV2 is a great looking wheel and my second favourite behind the type 107 ellipsoid. Having said that as much as I like the 107's and have them on mine the MV2 are a more modern looking wheel so age your zed less.

If you would like to know what the car actually came with from the factory you could use one of the online vin checkers to see what spec it left the factory with, including its type of wheel.

I've used several free vin checkers and none of them tell you about the wheels, what vin checker do you use that does?

This one:

this one also shows the wheel option I have
https://www.bmwvin.com/

looking at your signature sharpyboy maybe its because yours is a post facelift sport model and the MV2 (Type 135) is standard fare, it's not listed separately as its not an option as such.

Mine is a post-facelift sport model and they are listed under options (S787 BMW alloy wheel, M double spoke 135)

Oh well. there goes my theory! :D

I don't know much about the pre-facelift models, but it may be because your SE has the M-Sport suspension - some options can't be selected individually, so possibly M-Sport suspension only came with MV2s?

It's not directly relevant, but my nephew bought a 2004 325i Sport last year and that came on MV2s from new.

FWIW I really like how MV2s look, but I found them a bit of a pain to keep clean - my 108s are much easier to wash!
