Order Timeline

As there are a few people with orders in progress I thought it may be worth documenting the timeline for mine (which has just arrived at my dealers apparently).

For info I've been checking in regularly with the Genius Team all the way through and asking for the current status codes, what they have given me below is a mix of 3 and 4 digit codes, which I'm guessing means they have a couple of different order processing systems that they look at. There's a good summary here of all the 3 and 4 digit codes:

https://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=132878

Order was initially placed in the first week of August for an mSport 20i, but after much discussion and feedback from the incredibly helpful members on this forum I changed it to an M40i in September, this effectively meant the original order was cancelled and a new one raised.

Spec ordered is an M40i in Misano Blue with Technology Pack, Driver Assistance Pack, Wind deflector.

Genius updates as follows:

05/09/2021 047 Car ordered - No quota available.
11/10/2021 111 Order Accepted, Order number available (This is what Genius use to give you updates)
17/12/2021 112 Scheduled for production 2022 Week 4 (24th Jan)
16/01/2022 150 Production Started. VIN Available.
19/01/2022 151 Bodyshop started.
20/01/2022 152 Paint Shop Started
22/01/2022 153 Assembly Started
23/01/2022 155 Production Complete
24/01/2022 182 Released to carrier
02/02/2022 190 Transport to Port of Exit
04/02/2022 193 Arrived at Port of Exit (Cuxhaven, Germany).
05/02/2022 9605/9610 Pre EU Port of Exit (waiting for shipping, customs, etc).

Note: Car was shipped by UECC from Cuxhaven to Southampton. I managed to track the ship by referring to
UECC's forward schedule located at https://uecc.com/pdfschedule/schedule.pdf finding the likely ship in the schedule, and then using the MarineTraffic app on my iphone to get alerts when the ship left Cuxhaven and arrived at Southampton). Sad I know but being retired I have some spare time!!

11/02/2022 9620 At Sea on Prometheus Leader (UECC Line)
13/02/2022 9630 Arrived at port of entry (Southampton). Delivery estimate w/b 21st Feb.

Thanks for this Blaster...my current code is 1200 scheduled for production, as mentioned earlier. I will ask Genius again next week.

Did Genius give you your VIN automatically or did you ask for it. Once received, can you add it to the BMW app and does it give you any valuable information? Did you say you have not had any deletions?

Enjoy your new car, hopefully you will be picking it up soon

hi Jam13f Regarding the VIN, Genius wouldn't give it to me they referred me to my dealer who provided it. Once I had it I used a VIN Decoder to check the spec, the only deletion showing on the VIN Decoder was 6P1 (Wi-Fi functions, temporary deletion & preparation for Remote Software Upgrade), but the dealer also says that Wireless charging Deletion is showing on their system (as expected), luckily Touchscreen delete is not showing.

"Enjoy your new car, hopefully you will be picking it up soon"

Thanks I'm really looking forward to it!!

Hi blaster1956, that's great news for you!

Mine is at my Dealer's too, collecting on Tuesday morning. photos etc. to follow in due course.

Are you still going to wit until March to register? Bet you can't wait :D
It really is a fantastic car, certainly the best BMW I've owned, having completed 4000 miles in it now, I just love it, for a sports car that you can use everyday it is pretty perfect. Yes there is without doubt better drivers cars, but as the sum of all it's attributes, it is exceptional.

PeterE Great news, look forward to the photos!!

thanks Sars Yeah I'd decided to leave mine until 1st March a few weeks back, I'm picking it up on the 5th as my son is desperate to pick it up with me and he can't get time off work so I'm waiting until the weekend. May try and get a sneak preview at the dealer's next week though as it's only a couple of miles away!! Glad you are enjoying yours!!

Went into dealer today for a sneak preview (and to check it really did have a touchscreen - which it does!!)

I'm now unexpectedly picking it up this weekend. Seems BMW Finance stipulate that in order to keep the original finance APR of 2.9%, the car has to be registered within 10 days of arriving at the dealer, which is 26th February. Not too concerned as it will be on a private plate anyway, so won't miss it not being a 22 plate. They have thrown in Protect X free of charge as I pulled a face - I'm sure it's not the best paint treatment, but for free I wasn't going to say no!!

@blaster1956: aah, that explains why I have to pick mine up before 1st March; I'm on the 2.9% deal too and also have a private plate for mine.
Finance Agreement all signed and approved electronically this morning.
I'm beyond excited as I'm collecting mine at 10:30 tomorrow, will post a Dealer parking lot photo before I take it somewhere nice for some 'arty' shots for general circulation later in the week. The last few days have dragged really slowly but nearly there, I need a good nights rest tonight!

Maybe an irrelevant thing but if you plan to have any better than this unknown paint treatment applied later after you pickup the car, maybe the better option is to say no to this. Have this applied will make future coating or any paint protection system harder and more expensive to apply and achieve their best outcome.

Regardless of above irrelevant comment, the car looks stunning. Looking forward to see it on the road. :driving: :driving:

Oh excited for you both

What? Mazel tov!?!? ;)))))

I was actually trying to think what colours I would want them to launch. Non frozen orange would be cool.

... oh, that's interesting, mine got bumped up to 3.9% anyway, but the original quote was for a different car entirely so who knows what happened there. Between your location and that familiar-looking back fence I'm guessing it's the same dealership, too, and they didn't even mention paint protection to me this time around (last two cars came with Supagard as part of the standard delivery package). Hrm.

Car looks good though, enjoy picking it up! My handover session last month was briefly interrupted when someone wanted to take the red M40i that was on display right behind mine out for a test drive, sounded great as they fired it up.

Excellent, it’s here and you’ve seen it, just pick up to go and then it’s all yours :D

And of course the added bonus it’s a super fast blue one
