Put the roof down yesterday and forgot I had my jacket in the back, put the roof back up but now there is an orange light on when I press the 'down' button. The thing in the boot is down so thats not the cause (as per owners manual)...

Any ideas??

It's usually the micro switch warning light. Try raising the parcel shelf then lowering it again to re-set the switch

Good advice - I left the parcel shelf up the other day, had to resort to the manual then felt really Stoopid :slaphead:

On a related note, can the parcel shelf be used as one ? Sounds silly, but in the down position the flappy bits at he ends look like they will let stuff slide off he side into the gaps for the roof... :?

If all fails try disconnecting the battery for 15 mins - it may reset it

unless you or anyone else as any more ideas, then yes...

PS all it takes is 15 minutes, 14 of those waiting :?

Sounds like you may have broken the micro switch, you can find it here

I have this problem, roof won't go down and get the orange light, I've checked the shelf in the boot is lowered and looking at the microswitch but a metal clip just came off...

Could someone please post a pic of what configuration the microswitch is meant to be in, so I can figure out how to put the metal clip back?

Put it back together if you can ?, they are very flimsy, mine fell apart once after reinstalling the parcell shelf

You'll find a picture on this thread :-http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=259313#p259313, that was posted earlier

Done, it was quite tricky to get the top screw out, had to climb fully into the boot but the roof works now. :)
Thanks for your help!
