I assume its surface rust?

Anyone recommend anything out of Halfords to remove it?

I cant upload a picture at work :x But the brake discs have a reddish orange tinge to them.

Yep, rust-usually after washing the car or when it's been raining. It "brushes" right off first time you apply the brakes.

I hate it when it rusts, because then it all drips on my beautifully clean alloys when i park the car back in the drive.

brake cleaner is highly corrosive and will rust disc's almost on contact, as soon as your pads brush the surface it will be wiped off.

As said above after one press on the brake peddle they will be clean again.

Mine do it after every wash did it look like this
