Options on selling a potential classic Golf

For many years I have owned a really tidy 1983 A reg Mk1 VW Golf GTI 'Campaign' model in Lhasa green & since 1997 the car has been dry stored, in that time the brakes have packed up but the engine has been run up every year or so, I'm thinking about selling it on & letting someone else enjoy it but I have a bit of a dilemma surrounding selling it.

The options I'm considering are,

(a) Sort the brakes & everything else to get it roadworthy & MOT'd & then sell it on, I reckon it needs £750 or so to fix the brakes, replace the tyres, service it etc.
(b) Sell it as it is, in a kind of barn-find-trailer-it-away.
(c) Take the mods off of it which comprise of 16" alloys (I have the original Pirelli P slots still but needing a refurb), lip spoiler, strut brace, rear disc conversion (still have the original drums), stereo, retrofit VAG electric windows etc & turn it back to stock, none of the mods I did to it were permanent except having the rear arches ground back a bit to allow clearance for the wider wheels.
(d) Keep it until I have more time to enjoy it for myself.

Obviously I'll be sad to see it go, but if I can part with it I just want to see it go to a good home & of course I'd like to maximise the potential.

Any advice welcomed surrounding the above & also to what it may be worth, car has 125k miles on it, where's the best place to sell something like this?

For those not in the know, the Campaign model was the last of the Mk1 Golf GTI's before the Mk2 golf came out & had as standard the more torquey 1.8 engine (previous ones were 1.6's) & wait for it...... :) 14" Pirelli P slot wheels & tinted glass, laughable by todays standard options.

It has been off the road since before SORN was introduced & is hence not needed, I checked this with DVLA a while back.

The below picture was taken 5 years ago, looks the same now though.

I don't think its a potential classic, I think it is already a modern classic. I'd do it up and keep it myself. Practical Classic magazine guide £5250 for good condition, £7250 Concours condition. I had an early Mk2 GTI great car.

Yep I am for the keep it and use it brigade, and if you think it must go then after a while of it back on the road well sell it, can't be much to insure with a classic limited mileage policy :driving: My Scimitar gte 1976 insurance fully comp 3k miles a year £64!! :D

Digging out the pictures makes me wonder why I'm thinking of selling. although its in the garage (sharing with the Zed) it's covered up with a dull grey breathable cover, I guess I just don't notice it there which is a real shame :(

I use my as a painting - mostly looking at it, rarely use it.

Just noticed the anti break-in door handle shrouds, great original car security, you only needed to punch in a well placed screwdriver to break in!
