Opinions please Z4 2.5 Sport

Hi guys,

Off to see a car at the BMW dealer tomorrow. Spec:

2006/56 36K Miles 2.5 Sport, 1 previous owner
Black
Leather
Heated Seats
Comfort Pack
All M Sports Extras
£14.7K

I have done my research and it seems well priced for a BMW dealer, any opinions? Anything specific to look out for.

There is a link to a check list in my signature which is worth working through. BMW dealer - then I would want a full service history and at least oil/filter and brake fluid change prior to delivery. Remember offer them silly money - you never know.........! Good luck.

Thanks, had a service a few mths ago Inspection 1 I think, has FBMWSH, not sure when brake fluid was done, what do you guys think a sensible price should be 14K?
 
if its BMW AUC it should have had everything done at the right time....but worth checking

Always worth shopping around, play a few dealers off against each other...get them hunting for a car that you want...

I saw one in Portsmouth that I wanted, saw another in Hungerford the same day which was cheaper but I didnt like so much so... I phoned the bmw garage in Ports, said I was about the buy the one in Hungerford unless he made me an offer that would stop me.... he phoned back 5 mins later with a an offer of £1000 off.... deal done and I got the car I wanted!

Agree with Alan about trying a silly offer... if it doesn't have Nav moan about that a lot to help get the price down. It may well have the 108 split rims... check those carefully for signs of corrosion, peeling laquer... they'll probably just swap for new ones.

Finally, if you do a deal, ask them not to clean it before delivery... then visit the dealing section and develop OCD :P

nice one! Prob is I am travelling about 60 miles to the dealer by train! Will try that trick, he has only had the car 2-3 days so prob wont be that keen on shifting it,

Who is Srhutch, someone on here? It as the M Sport Rims, will get them to refurb and sell them I think for some aftermarket 19s!

You already know what you will be depressed again after you have seen my car again? :D
 
So, went to see the car, sat in, adjusted the steering rack and :!: the steering light on the dash illuminated, something was up with the power steering! Had to turn off the car and reset. Not a great start. Apart from that the car needed quite a bit of body work on the bumpers, scratches etc and all alloys needed refurbing. Interior was moderate condition. Would not budge on price 250 quid off. I was not too keen on it after seeing the steering fault anyway.

Search goes on, may now go for a Cooper S instead.

Prob right, have a budget of 14K and I dont think I can stretch to get a 2006 zed for that, agree totally different cars but the 2 seats at the back may suit me better, still looking around though, just came from a 2007 TTR and the Zed I drove just didnt have enough power as my TT did. I came out of the car as it had crap reliability but was fun to drive.
 
If you're willing to wait for a decent example to crop up on the private market, you should be able to get a post facelift straight 6 within your budget - although not many people seem to want to sell their Zeds mid Summer.
