Opinions on buying a Z4

So I was looking at a car which was a 2007 3.0i Auto with 21k Kilometers for about 30k Canadian (expensive compared to UK but these car are more expensive in Canada) but then I was talking to another dealer who said he could get me a better car for cheaper or find something that would work better for me. I explained to him that I would probably only use the car 5 weeks or maximum 7 weeks of the year in the summer. He suggested that because I would not drive it much that I go for a cheaper car with more miles and then sell the car in about 3 years and replace it with a new before it gets old enough where I won't get much for it when I sell.

What do you guys think $30k for a 2007 3.0i with 20k kilometers or a 2008 3.0si with 70k kilometers for maybe $24k? I'm trying to see what will give me more value either if i decide to sell or if I decide to keep it for the life of the car.

Would like your opinions, also that was an example that he gave me from the list of cars he could get me. He can pretty much get me any car I wanna buy and can also beat the price for the exact same car as the 2007. I'm kind of wondering mostly if I want lower kilometers for extra money or what you guys would do in this situation. Thanks

haha there are no z4's to rent where I am from :) I plan to move home in a few years anyway so I'd get the full summer out of it then.

Hi if you get a high milage car now and only use it 7 weeks per year for the next 2 years the milage will be back to normal.
I would go for high milage and the price will hold over the next 2 year. Gool luck and enjoy :driving:

Given your predicted low mileage then getting a car with more miles on to start with is much less concern IMO.

Over a few years the mileage to age ratio will drop nearer to average miles for the car, but you will have to keep up age related servicing of course.

In your position I'd probably go for the high mileage car (assuming renting is no option) and keep my money now. You would also be in a better bargaining position to haggle with the dealer, as higher mileage trade-ins are harder to shift so you would be a good buyer to have, especially with no trade-in yourself. Do the classic buying trade though of having 2 dealers from different parent companies in the game. Your choice if you declare cash buyer or not to start with as they will likely have some earnings from the financing part of the sale.

Do remember in this situation you are an attractive customer :D

Hey guys..still looking for more feedback because I'll hopefully be buying the car next week.

Instead of creating a new thread I have another question..

After all of the reading I've done I've decided I will ditch the runflats pretty much right away or atleast after a few days so I can notice the difference when I switch to another tire. I'm hoping to find some Falken 452's here in Cnada for a good price. My question is when it comes to rims/wheels is the biggest difference in just the looks and durabilty or does good rims also make the car feel and handle better. I'm wondering if I should just put the Falkens on the BMW rims or if I should look at buying aftermarket rims. Thanks
