Opinions on BMW X6

They look cramped to me compared to a 5 series or even a 3 series touring. A little too much style over substance. Didn't Top Gear test one of these and thought it was a pretty pointless car?

There's no end of pointless car's Tim , sometimes we just want a car that appeal's for no apparent reason other than it look's awesome & break's the mould a little 8) .
In the right colour of course
I would have one over a 5 or 3 series especially the latest version's which look drab in contrast to the X6

Its an SUV, topgear hate them. Believe me they are very comfortable and very fast - a bit too much in fact as you said a bit OTT.

The rear can take the kids bicycles and other stuff easily.

The hatch door has an auto opening button and you can also set how much it goes up based on the height of the ceiling of the garage.

I think I would rather go for an Evoque if I had to have that type of car.....I didn't just say that :?

+1 one mans pointless is another mans desire :D

It seems you have already made ur mind up- I have an E70 X5 as my dd and love it, opulent, fast and easy to drive. I'm sure the X6 will be the same but personally they have all the draw backs of the x5 - MPG, high running costs etc without the benefits IMHO.
End of the day-if you want an X6 get one as im sure you will love it.

Sometimes the word 'ugly' isn't enough. That is an abomination of a vehicle. I looks like the design brief was "Sporty, with an off-road, executive saloon, fastback, grand-tourer kind of feel, with a smattering of Chavvy Type R thrown in. Oh, and give it a near-horizontal rear windscreen that offers just enough visibility to see the people behind flipping you the bird"

If you want everybody to think you are a total bellend, definitely get one - make it a white one with blacked out windows and gloss black rims. Horrible, clumsy styling.

Its only redeeming feature is that once you are inside you'll be blissfully insulated from the shouts of "c*ck!".

I really used to think like that until I started liking them.

Now would seem the time to buy. Since they split opinion so severely, produced in relatively small numbers and have to date retained very healthy second hand prices, my money is on them becoming a future classic.

....Reminds me of another, bread carrying vehicle from the BMW archives

Yes in fact initially i did not really fall in love with them but now its like wow what a sexy rear.

I just wonder about the perception of them, dont want to to drive to school and everyone thinks i have another job lol

S.

I don't think there's a car out there that doesn't 'say' something about you wherever you happen to be Shawna! And ultimately who cares right?!

Right! :driving:

Right from the start you mentioned new family transport.
For that reason alone it's the wrong car.
I ran an X5 that was so perfect for family with space and decent pace that I kept it for 10 years. X6 styling is individual (love it or loathe it), but believe me when it comes to fitting in prams, bikes or university gear, etc. the X5 is a great cat, the X6 way too compromised.

My opinion is that its not exactly incognito, a bit vulgar even. Would rather have a 5 series car/touring. But as others have said, at the end of the day, you will have to live with it. I think the styling is too 'of its time'. Looking dynamic and modern now, but in 3 years time it will be dated. You know, a bit like olive/sage/yellow/sky blue coloured bathroom suites were all the rage once.

Wow! Who knew that the mere mention of the X6 would bring out the haters! Incredible forum thread scenes

Definitely a future classic then:)

Like them, but wait the new facelift is on the horizon so prices should drop a little more if your buying second hand
