Opinions on alloys

Hi,

I have a set of 108 alloys on my zed. I am thinking of refurbing them but there are.some options but I am undecided.

1) refurb the 108s
2) buy a set of already refurbed MV2 alloys in silver
3) buy a set of already refurbed MV2 in gun metal

The cost to buy or refurb is similar.

The colour of my zed is sapphire black.

I would welcome folks views

Thanks

I think the 108s look way better than the MV2s personally, so I'd go refurb 108s.

I have a set of refurbed 108s gathering dust in my garage.
Can be difficult to find somewhere to take them on.

108s are a terribly designed wheel, need splitting and refurbing every few years.

personally, i'd go neither 108s nor MV2s... i'd get a set of MV3s on there.

Agreed. Also terrible to keep clean with the various gaps between the rim and spokes along with all the bolts gathering dirt and crud.
Horrible.

It goes to show tastes vary but all good. One thing that has been confirmed is that the 108s do need a lot of attention in cleaning and frequency of refurbing.

My first Z4 had MV2s and they are a pain to clean!

My next one came with 108s that had been refurbed a few years ago but I knew they'd need doing again at some point. So I bought a set of E89 Style 295s and sold the 108s while they were still in good condition. :)

Although I'd have considered other options like 107s if there had been any around at the time.

I suppose it depends how much you like the 108s!

Oh actually... i take back the recommendation of mv3s... get a set of 107s. Original and best. Look great, unique to the e85, and easy to clean.

I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the 108's fell off the top of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down, so any wheel except the 108's from me. MV2's or MV3's on a facelift.

I am after a hardtop in sapphire black. Whilst I was looking around I saw the MV2s with that set-up and I thought it looked fantastic. I have only ever had 108s.

I got mine refurbished and now have 19s on my E86.
If [ref]Jamturbo[/ref], is interested, I'd be open to selling the set. Freshly refurbished and never been on the road. Falken tyres with a few mm of tread left. Happy to send pictures if interested

I had tired 108s on my first E86 and the costs of refurb were prohibitive for what they are, it was cheaper to buy some already done and sell mine and get a few quid back. I really liked the 108s still think they are great looking. The MV2s really grew on me, got them on my E85 and thought I would get them replaced but once you space out the wheels in the arches they really suit it!

I have a quote of £530 for all four wheels ( refurb 108s)
Does that include the cost to replace the inevitable broken bolts?
Appreciate it's always personal preference with these cars, especially the alloys, but for me if you have an E85 it has to be the 107's and if you have an E86 it's the MV2's.
I had a set of ACS Type III racing wheels on my 3.0 Z3 but I could never bring myslef to like them - I just don't like split rim alloys
