Opinions on a possible purchase.

Currently Zedless at the moment, I had a grand plan of buying a MX5. However, after weeks of trawling through MOT histories only to discover serious rust in nearly all of them, I have decided to look for another Z4. This one I like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186667995910?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D777008%26algo%3DPERSONAL.TOPIC%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20240131095853%26meid%3De21c5dca3505499e999f23cbbad5cca1%26pid%3D101949%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26itm%3D186667995910%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D4375194%26algv%3DRecentlyViewedItemsV2WithMLRV6RankerPricelessTop30Features&_trksid=p4375194.c101949.m162918&_trkparms=parentrq%3Acb7554561910ab1151fe67bbffff38b4%7Cpageci%3Aaabdf777-6ced-11ef-b328-e2627b0cb243%7Ciid%3A1%7Cvlpname%3Avlp_homepage and the registration number is SM03 WUR. opinions please!

Looks pretty immaculate but in my opinion is a little overpriced, for that year should be around £3,200.

Looks tidy but you paying a huge premium for the low mileage. No heated seats either.

MOT expired back in May so they have had it in stock for a while presumably. The EML is an advisory due to the age of the car.

Nice looking car.

I keep a track of prices for the 2.5se but they vary soo much as they arent as rare as the 2.5si. I paid more for a 2005 2.5se last year with 70k - but it’s super clean and has good history.

At the end of the day, you’re the one spending the money. If everything feels good, paperwork is good and you like it, it’s not a lot of money :D

Picture 4. Nearside indicator.
Does that indicate (pun intended) some paintwork?
It looks like the surround has been twisted in when not fully cured and creased the paint?

Thanks for all your help, you certainly learn a few new things every day! On the question of service history, I hit a dead end, there isn't any. The garage owner is going to ask the previous owner of ten years for the documents but I would not hold my breath. He also has a 2.2 for sale, the same colour and price but I declined. You can ask BMW but they will only confirm the date and location of any garage visit, not what was done. "Little and Pace" or Little Pace, has a Concours car for sale! https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202408162954850?sort=distance&exclude-writeoff-categories=on&make=BMW&minimum-badge-engine-size=2.4&model=Z4&page=1&postcode=tn22%201hf&price-from=2000&price-to=5500&transmission=Manual&year-to=2024&advertising-location=at_cars&fromsra

This one is for sale near me Ray.
It’s a facelift si 2.5. I’ve seen it a few times and looks a very clean car.
A bit more than the £3995 but it’s a buyers market at the moment so a you could play hardball

I wouldn't worry about service history on a twenty year old car - judge it on its condition. But if its a dealer selling it then pretend that its incredibly important and get a huge chunk of money knocked off if you can :-)

That Si is a nice car but its getting a bit spendy if you only wanted a cheap car.

Personally, for me, I bought a 2.2 then when a few weeks later a 3.0 came along I went for it - if your gonna get one, get a big un. I knew that I'd always really wanted the definitive E85 so that had to be a 3.0 and over the past four years I've not regretted it for a moment.

I think they have a funny idea of what concours is, look at the state of those discs and pads, the interior plastics are nowhere near concours either.

I contacted 3 dealer groups about my 325i back in 2018 and they were all really helpful providing details of the work done to it. One even said they had serviced it 3 months previously so I took the service book to them and got it stamped. :D

Also maybe worth bearing in mind that ownership would confer upon you the opportunity of membership of the Club Exclusive Maldives
