As I have mentioned in a prior post, I am new to this forum and Z-4's in general, so bear with me.

I just picked up a 3.0 si, including the sport package. Now the question.

my dealer offered me a warranty on the tires and rims for approx. $900 U.S..

These are the 108 wheels and the 18" run flat tires. This seem awfully steep to me.

Are the Wheels that fragile? Or is my dealer trying to make a killing.

Opinions welcome, please advise.

I believe the 108 wheels rust easily.... I don't have those rims myself but this is something I heard on the forum.

The 108's do rust easily, but that is usually not part of the warranty
Otherwise, they hold up really well unless you distinctly impact a good pothole,,,, which goes for any other lightweight wheel.

Not worth it in my opinion :)

Hi banger, I have the 3.0si, as well. Take care of the wheels because you're proud of them and of where you drive because you're smart and you'll be fine. My put would be to keep the $900 in your pocket and enjoy. :driving: ...dean

Here's a question for you...what are the warranty details? If you curb the rim? Is that covered? Worse yet, if you do some minor curb damage then need them replaced for some other reason, will they not honor the warranty because of the curb damage? Regardless, I don't think it's a very good deal....unless that provides a lifetime of replacement tires. If that's the case, I'd be peeling out from every light!!! :D

But since I doubt that's the case, you'll really want to replace those run-flats as soon as they are worn! The diffence in the ride quality is huge. Just do some searches on this forum for discussions on run-flat tires (rfts) and you'll find plenty of info.

keep the money.. do burn outs in the RFTs... then go and get NEW tires!!
