Please, no arguing about which is better, worse, nicer, prettier.

Just want a count to see whether there's more users of Mac OS vs Windows vs Other.

Windows 7 :?

The new, pre-release public beta that Microsoft have announced. Think of it as Vista Fixedâ„¢

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Mac user but have to use PCs sometimes at work (I'm bilingual, lol) and I must say that after service pack 1 for Vista, it was MUCH better.

Vista was always good. All you needed is some real kickass h/w and to disable the Aero crap. I must say that the Suspend/Resume feature was not working too well however. It's strange because it was working so well with XP.

I agree-I think most of the bad rap that Vista got was due to folks trying to install it on older, barely minimal systems. I still prefer OS X,

i'm currently booting into any one of the following: Linux (fedora core 10), Windows Server 2008 Ent x64, Vista, XP, Windows 7, FreeBSD

I have been a Linux user since RH4.2

I dropped it on my home server for Win2003 because FC10 is really weird...

My desktop is Vista, my laptops are XP.

Unix user since SunOS3.5 but currently run FreeBSD (OSX 10.5.6) for my primary desktop at home with XP running as a VM under Parallels. Laptop is dual boot RHEL 5.2 WS and windoze XP. I also have another XP host at home to run my weather station.

Work desktop is XP with Cygwin providing a linux shell on a second screen along with 4 other RHEL 5.2 servers for network management software on a wall of screens above my desk.

Alan, ever use the Lynx OS? I just inherited a box that tftps the kernel from a solaris 6 machine. What a kludge!

Nope - the last version of Solaris I used was 8 and then I discovered the joys of heading back to the more BSD oriented linux variants. I got tired of pretending that I loved Suns enough to put up with the tedium of adding in the GNU trees every time I got a new box so it would be tolerable when all I really wanted was to go back to BSD :D

System 5 release 4 unix may be the POSIX standard but it is just too sterile for me. Sun makes nice hardware but its overpriced compared to what we can build these days for a fraction of the price. Is the Lynx box Sun hardware? How much $$$$ for disk space and RAM? That's the main reason I dumped my old Ultra 60 and moved over to a Mac.

Mac OSX,

I do use XP for gaming purposes, but I'm not giving the windows users the satisfaction of another vote :poke:

You can tell who works in IT!!

I use Leopard on my Macbook and iMac but both have bootcamp with XP (remote desktop works far better for work). Obviously for the purposes of this survey, that counts as Leopard. I use some dumped down version of XP networked at work.

Tell me about this Snow Leopard? Is it out? Has it passed me by?

Snow leopard. It's not a major leap forward, but rather a tinkering under the hood to improve performance. It will have more specific coding for intel chip and gets rid of some of the legacy stuff for the PPC chip. Apple says it will be out in about a year, but friends of mine say more like in the next few months.

Snow Leopard

Snow Leopard is OS X 10.6 and that isn't out yet. 10.5.6 is the current version.
