Sorry if this is a daft question, but does the boot spring fully open when you press the key fob,or is it all like mine and just unlatches and i have to slide a finger under the ledge to open it.

haha not much of a good design there then.its just that on me old mercedes the bootlid popped right open

Depends - if you press it and it pops up and hits something, like your chin, then you'd be pleased you had to raise it.

I'm sure thats another 'safety' feature but rather it that way myself, imagine if you knocked the keyfob button in your pocket at least its not too obvious you have left the boot unlocked

My old 200sx bootlid used to ping up like a spring loaded catapult!

If you have the boot unlocked on the coupé then you'll get an open door warning on the dash!

Thankfully it does only pop it open as one morning when leaving for work i noticed my boot was open and it had rained all night but nice and dry inside must have popped it by mistake when washing the car with key in my pocket

I have had that happened as well.

I have also seen some ones fingers caught in the self closing lid on a Mercedes many years ago and all so could do is stand there and scream. All four fingers were caught!!
Thankfully they weren't broken just bent and bruised!!
