i wanted to share this idea with u guys so i can get advices and suggestion from everybody i hope, i like tuned cars so i've been thinking to do a business with my friend a tuning garage.

since i don't have enough money to buy a place for starters i was thinking of doing projects, like buying cars tune it up then sell it until i have the money to get the place.

coz around here we don't have that much of places that does these stuff and even if there is they r gonna be expensive. usually what people do is buy the stuff and go to a garage and fix it , but some of the garages don't know how to fix it coz it's not their profession if it's without the instructions they won't do it and some do it wrong, so i said why don't i make it easy for people and do for them every thing, get the parts and fix it.

what do u think ?!

i need good places to deal with shops or dealers, anybody can give me suggestions about some good shops ?!!

Here is my 2cents.

The economy is not good. I talked to a rep from arrowspeed and he was telling me thier business is way off this year. We have a tuning shop down the street from us, that told me they are down 10,000 this month alone. That is not to say it cant work, just that this is not the best time. My suggestion would be to really research the need in your area. If you establish it is there, I would look for a shop you could rent or lease. You might even be able to find someone that will rent you a bay from thier existing business. This would get you started inexpensively. If it didnt work you could walk without being in tons of debt, if it did go over you could get a bigger place. Be sure to develop a pricing structure that will make you profitable. Most of the shops I know of Double the cost of a part or at least charge retail, then add a competitive labor rate.

As for people bringing thier own parts to a shop to get them put on, this is a peave of mine. I dont take my hamburger to McDonalds and ask them to cook it for me. Shops stay in business with the markup they make on parts. If you can install your own parts, by all means buy them at a discount place and put them on. If you cant, be willing to let the shop make enough money that they can open the doors in the morning.

Good luck to you, I hope it goes over well. Nothing better than loving what you do for a living.

You may want to mention what country you reside in. That may help with suggestions. However, I agree that the global markets are taking a hit and people may only decided to get maintanence and not come in for any extras for fun....

i'm in kuwait, i've noticed that many people r tuning up their cars from engines body kits and other stuff, since there is not much professional shops to do that i said way don't i do it.

well first i would do tune up but then i want to open a garage where i can do maintenance and other stuff.

how come companies like hamann shcnitzer and others tune the cars and sell them in high price ?!

why if i tune up the car it won't get me much money ?!

i lived in the states for few years, i have some friends over there that tuned up their cars and it was professional work i asked them for a list of good dealers or shops, so if anybody here can give me a list too :D

...that would be down to reputation - Schnitzer is a known and trusted brand.
