Cracked my wife's windscreen.....I was only changing the wipers.Took the old one off and while holding the wiper arm and trying to put the new one on it slipped out of my hand and being spring loaded it flicked back on the screen and cracked it.

Did my Series 1 earlier this year, the insurance repairer said its a very regular occurrence.
Lesson learned though, any old towel or magazine placed on the windscreen in future.

Definitely a lesson learned,hers is a 1 series too.Thank god it wasn't my Zed :D

Sad, but way too easy to do. Hit a screen with something with a small point of contact and it's a gonna....

Some not so honest would say its a cheap way to get a windscreen replaced!

When you had yours replaced on the 1 series did they use a like for like rubber?

Had mine changed on th E87 last year, fitter ordered a BMW seal from the start

Old screen a bitch chipped Lynchy

Yes Auto Windscreens came to the house and the first thing he said was that he would be fitting an OEM seal, but not an OEM screen. This was an option when I originally contacted them but the additional cost was huge.
All in all was highly pleased with the company.

No, not at all.I honestly accidentally let the windscreen wiper arm flick back on the screen.Mind you it did hit the screen with a bit of force.Whats bitch chipped?

:headbang:
Is there still time to blame the wife somehow Lynchy?
"I was just changing the wipers and noticed….etc"
