I scratched the offside front corner panel - some pretty deep scratches..will put up pics later.

Any recommendations for bodywork repair places in the south? I'll be going to london next week, might take the zed if anyone has good recommendations for places? I might also be going up north next month.

However - I was ask thinking about maybe going to a dealer and upgrading to a 2.2 or Sport version? People reckon, it's better get the damage fixed first? Atm the oil service is due soon at 60,000 miles so I'm not sure about the value in getting things repaired over exchanging the car. That said, I have made small upgrades to this one - like the radio, stubby and gear knob and I'm not sure if I'll like another car tbh.

All opinions welcome.

Hi there.

I did very much the same on my previous zed. Got a local company in Sidcup, Kent to do the work and it was a perfect job but not what I would call cheap. I can find their details if you're near Sidcup.

Hope it all works out.

Cheers :D

Thanks, I might have a go with super resin polish and gloss to see if it lessens the appearance first. I can't really afford an expensive repair what wit insurance etc due this month too. :(

Sorry to hear of your scratch vanilla. Definitely clean the area up with some polish to see what it looks like. Can make a world of difference on the minor stuff.
Depending on the area covered, you should be able to get it prepped and sprayed for less that many insurance excesses.
If you're trading it in then a cheaper repair may sort it, but longer term ownership would make it worth paying a bit more for good colour match, blending and decent clear coat that won't be peeling in the years to come, esp at the front with road rash etc.

Hope all goes well.

Thanks - here's some pictures.

The top edge where the light is catching is the 2-3mm deep scratches i think.

Hey that is nowhere near as bad as what happened to me. I managed to scrape and also slightly bow the wheel arch panel :( had only had the zed 2 weeks and thought I could easily manoeuvre her into my garage.

If you have the patience and skills I think what MHZ4C suggests is very sound advice. I was absolutely devastated when this happened to me but trust me it will come up better than new.

Good luck :D

Put up a wanted request on here or check ebay. A pre face lift black sapphire bumper shouldn't be that hard to come by for little money.

I did the same years ago on mine too :(

You could get a touch up stick and fill it and then flatten that yourself to lessen it.

I used Chips Away to repair similar damage on a previous car. They came out the same day and the repair was excellent, impossible to tell there had been any damage. I think it cost about £80 but that was 3 or so years ago.

With a bit of luck you could replace the bumper for less than that

Really? A bumper for less than £80? Where would i find that?

eBay!

I want to know who that ^ guy used in sidcup, (I live there) I'm guessing GL Coachworks?

I know someone right near brands hatch race track if that's any good? Should be affordable too.

Mine's about to go there for a rear bumper scrape someone did whilst turning into the alley way I was parked near :*(

The worst thing is, I had FULL saphire black pre-facelift bumper in a friends garage until I could get around there and pick it up, and his dad had a clear out and threw it away :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: fogs, grille, the lot.

Got a quote for £200 re paint front bumper and will install the fog lamp. Also quick polish..

In the meantime and idiot in a pimped cooper was tailgating me and rear ended me at a give way! Not much damage at slow speed and I was stopped at give way but scratches on my rear bump and small circle sensor bit? from the extruding lamps he had on. :headbang:

That cant be a full prep and bumper respray for £200? :o

Not sure..but it's a crash repair centre and they had done pretty nice jobs on the mercs etc they had. He said its minor damage and seemed pretty interested in the zed, asking me all sorts of questions as if he wanted to buy it. "Apparently it's a weekend car."
Was planning on getting a quote from Mstyle in Essex too but I didn't have enough time in the end.

£200 for a bumper is about right TBH, I still know some places that'll help a friend out at £100 a panel, £200 is what I'd expect to pay.
