Ooops ! sold the Zed

I heard all about the trouble with the back end coming apart..... mine never did. and I did chuck them around a bit....., the prez of the AZ. Z. Sports Car Club has a shop that makes all kind of struts and braces for Z3's and 4's. (Strongstrut).

I'm looking forward to the search for my third Z3, it will be fun.

My understanding is that the sheer torque of the ///M could tear the back end to pieces if driven hard frequently but the smaller engined models were pretty much immune to this.

Delicate little flowers!

So it best to stay away from the more powerful versions?

Nope quite the opposite, many prefer the Z3M over the Z4M for obvious reasons and many Ms have received the necessary work. Generally it was the boot spot welds that would pop, a BMW weakness across many models which is an easy fix and was done under warranty. Worse case scenario is a cracked diff bracket and tearing of the boot floor seams. again easily fixed. It affected all Z3 models, rarer on the least powerful models.

Tim.
