Decided to treat my Zed to a decent wash and wax and also treat the roof with AG roof cleaner and protector. 1st time since I've owned it.

Had some rain since which shows up some good beading. Hope you like.

I used an old Meg NXT spray wax. Tbh I was thinking of doing it again before winter sets in with a better wax but not sure what to get.

AG HD wax is good. If you need something longer lasting looks at a sealant like I used 'Abyss'

Roof is good though

Mine looks like that when it gets a little wet right now... Though I have noticed that it's not totally waterproofed as a good downpour still soaks through. Which is fine.

Yeah I wasn't sure about the bodywork. It's certainly better than it was before.

Definitely happy with the roof though.

Good effort :) I,m no pro detailer by any mean,s but when it comes to beading , , the tighter the globules of water the better the finish

Thanks inkey. I need to get a new wax. Think a pot rather than spray as the spray leaves a bit of a mess in hard to reach places. But the problem is I dot have £45 to spend on AG hd.

I have heard Meg #16 is good if I can find it or Collinite 476s?? Anyone else recommend a good cheaper wax? Or should I be looking at a sealant for the winter? Don't have a clue about detailing really.

I use the collinite 915, similar to the 476 but smells nice as opposed to a bit chemically like the 476. Lasts ages as well

Halfrauds have AG hd on offer at £30 on their website at the moment.
I've just used on on the Zed and am impressed with the results:

The LH third (as viewed) has had AutoGlym HD wax applied.
The RH side is Meguiars carnauba wax

After this test I did the whole car with AutoGlym HD.

Dodo Juice & Poorboys waxes are also good value. TBH I think you will struggle to spend less than £30... But a tub lasts a long, long time. I have a tub of Dodo Juice Purple Haze Pro that I've had for over a year now, and I reckon I have used about a 1/4 of it max.

Have a look on here - cleanyourcar.co.uk. You want Dodo Juice White Diamond for a light car IIRC... Or choose another that you like the look of - there are good reviews from buyers on there for most of the products. May not be the cheapest on this site, but decide what you want then go googling

where did you hear that???

waxs/sealants etc all have different types of beads, nothing to do with the finish.

my case in point... one of the many tests I've done, 4 LSP (2 waxes, 2 sealants) all on the same bonnet, finished and prepped the same way...

now, they range from £3 right up to over £8,000.... anyone want to guess what's what??? lol

@OP... if you are looking for a cheap, long lasting, easy to use wax for both your paint and wheels, I would suggest you get FK1000P.

under £20, massive tin and can survive a long winter with ease.

HTF does vertical beading work ? Shouldn't it just slide off, or is your wax sticky

By the way, not used the ONR yet... Decided to wait till the rain stops

Well I have order some Poorboys Natty's Paste Wax so will give that a go. Also ordered some of the Gummi Pflege to restore the sills etc. Will post up pics of the beading with the Poorboys if it's any better.

It'll be loads better

Just remember, less is more with wax, but you can't go wrong with two coats :D
