One Year Anniversary

Hi all,

Car has just sailed through its first MOT under my ownership and it is approaching the end of its warranty; now I'm debating what to do next.

First off, I've had nothing but a good time and bad mpg with it as expected - driven all over Europe, most recently Monaco and it has not missed a beat in the nearly 15000 miles I've whacked on it. It is currently between 56000-57000 miles and I'm wondering whether to keep it and extend the AUC warranty for 400 pounds or chop it in for a newer one with lower miles. It's a 2009 35i in black, I've been offered 10,900 pounds for it by a local dealer (trade-in) and found a 2015 example with 12000 miles on it for around 25k.

So my questions are:

- Do I stick with what I have and know or try the sparkly newer version

and

- What sort of price could I expect privately, maybe 1-2k more?

Hi, fifteen grand will buy you an awful lot of repairs.
You’re using man maths, keep what you’ve got

Keep it! 57k is nothing. Pro-tip, the warranty will go up once you tick over 60k - so buy the monthly instead of annual and it will stay in the <60k bracket because they never re-evaluate!

If you fancy a new toy - go and buy it (if you can sensibly afford it)

Spending £1k is only a couple of weeks in a care home!

+1

Buy something else to have fun with!

Or buy something else for when you won't be having fun anyway.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I've decided to extend the warranty and hang on to it for another year. She's a lovely old thing and hasn't let me down yet!
