One week old - new hood!

Had the Z a week now. Love it :driving:

First registered April 04 and bought from an AUC BMW main dealer. Collected by my gf.

Took it my local (different) dealer today as the hood was leaking a bit around the door seal I noticed when I washed the car for the first time. Imagine my surprise to be told that the hood had, in two places on top either side, worn right down to the canvas and was almost through and would start leaking soon - if not already!! Due to incorrect adjustment Quoted £2000.00 to replace and not a warranty item

This is on top the following:

1 Two service books. One fully stamped by main daelers but with one indy stamp. The other, supplied by the salesman as the indy tamp "should not be there" is missing the PDI satmp and supplying dealer stamp nand missing one service. Salesman told me on the phone that the two were identical and the nindy stamped it by mistake. I believed him as most would.

2 HPI say incorrect VIn (only noticed after getting home as not with pack of documents. They posted it to me

3 Arrived to collect and dent in door, hurriedly repiared (very well i actualy) by Dent Master or similar

4 Scratch on back for which I was given a cheque to get repaired when I got home. Fron apron badly scuffed but only noticed at home as it on bottom lip.

5 General condition of car was terrible really. Not realy well prepped and some scratches and bonnett chipped but it is 5 year old . Drivers seat scuffed on side bolster (Gliptone   )When complained the mangaer arranged for an army of bodyshop staff to polish madly, which sorted chips and most scratches in fairness so she could get home.

I realsie it is a nearly 5 year old car and not a daily driver but am I being picky or is this just a bit to shoddy. What do I do about the hood also.

Any help/advice appreciated

Why did you buy it then?

I'd give it back and get your money back if it's that bad.

Yep -fair point. Bought on internet and my partner went to cxollect and she, in fairness, was in a difficult position and had to get home which is 200 miles or so away

Yeah have to agree - you shouldn't have taken it.

Easy to say from an outsiders perspective - but all the above (ignoring the hood issue) would have led me to walking away - number 4 is just shocking!

*EDIT - just seen your reply - although would still have walked away.

Thats not good i would deffo think about returning the car as it should have been prepped and the roof should have been sorted

95% of women (inc. my partner) think all cars are the same (with 4 wheels). Don't rely on them if it is about cars. Your partner should have checked the car throughly before driving it away.

You should go back to the dealer about the roof. I am taking my car back this week to have 2 ///M door sill finishers fitted for free after I found out one of the illuminated door sill finishers does not work. I collected my car 3 weeks ago from BMW dealer, and the salesman said they want all customers fully satisfied about their cars. They could have done nothing as the part is accessory item and over 2-year-old (not covered by AUC warranty). Excellent dealership.

It is easy to say that things should have been done differently but I was stung on my last purchase (Boxster needed a gearbox rebuild after a month - £2000 :() and unless you know what to look for it is easy to get it wrong. Once bitten, twice shy on my part definitely....

Cant believe the roof isnt coverd under AUC warranty. I would reply by saying "Not Fit for Purpose" and return.
