Hello all, in 2019 I had my black sapphire E89 detailed with an extensive two or three stage polish and Gyeon ceramic coating. I have to say I am mighty impressed with Gyeon only now after 7 years and with the mechanic leaving the car outside for three months or so in the hot sun is the coating showing signs of fading. I decided to ask around for a refresh and have quotes between 500 and 800€ for single stage polish and ceramic coating.
The detailers have told me the car is basically in good condition and have even been told the paint is original apart from one wing and a bumper so a single stage polish will be sufficient. The problem I have is the 500 to 800€ seems like a lot of dough for what it is. So my question to any accomplished detailers is how easy will it be to do this myself?
I have a garage and a basic polishing machine and have polished cars in the past when I was trading them and did quite well in bringing the paintwork to life but this was the days before detailing where every minute scratch had to be fixed. I am not looking for perfection, so can this be done and if so any pointers that I should take into account?
