.. can be as in this case avoid having your pride and joy being bumped by another car, because its owner had not applied the handbrake properly. Which then duly roles back by itself and does this,

At least the z is safe, I try to use my mums megane if going anywhere the z may get damaged, thankfully thanks to her driving its already dinged and scratched, so anymore is not the end of the world...its only a 60 reg however :cry:
 
There is a nice reflection of the z there....

I love having cheap runabouts. You park where you like, you can have YOUR turn at dinging other peoples doors in the supermarket :evil: you can chuck all sorts of shite in it and sit on the roof with a cup of tea at the local footie match and not worry about scratched paint.

And it still loves you..... :hairdryer:
 
I suppose we should thank our lucky stars we don't live in France... the number of times I've watched drivers using the bumpers of parked cars as "parking sensors" to get into tiny spaces. Once watched a lady push a parked Maserati back by about a foot 'cause the space wasn't big enough... :(

In the end no, i decided not to pursue it as a bit of an awkward situation occured. I was at a pub at the time with a friend.
I went out to view the damage, and discuss the matter with the owner of the other car.
To the lower right of shot there is part of what is about a 2 inch wide split in the bumper which is pushed in slightly. Not seen that before so put 2 and 2 together along with the scuff, and believed it was caused by the offending car.
Just about to take the owners insurance details when a friend of the driver who was with her argued that the split in the bumper was not caused by their car only the scuff, and that it was old damage. I simply told him it was the first time i had seen it, so there was a bit of a stand off. So another person had a look (known to them) ran some rag between the split to show that if the rag picked up any dirt it must be old damage, which it did.
So i decided not to take it any further, and have got rid of almost all the scuff with T Cut.
Just a bit miffed by attitude of the person arguing with me, getting the impression i may have been 'trying it on' And not even an apology, the woman was fine to be fair.
The owners car is actually a company car, with the insurance also with them. Overheard her friend say she would be in trouble if a claim was made on the insurance.

Would have most definitely claimed off them had it been the Z!

Isn't always the way, you do absolutely nothing wrong, then "your" trying it on for asking for insurance details, and no apology to boot, I always try to ask the protagonist "what what you do if it was your car just damaged" it normally shuts them up. Glad you managed to tidy the car up, I think you could get the crack in the bumper plastic welded if your bothered. :thumbsup:

I had a girl t bone an old Volvo of mine years ago, the car was worth very little, she begged me not to go through the insurance so I agreed to her paying £200.00 over 6 months, I got one payment and then when I rang in month 2 after no payment made, I was told to F**k off :) Good job I believe in Karma :rofl:

This.

I also have a large tow bar fitted to my runabout which acts as a kind of secondary bumper..... not that I really care if it gets bumped, scratched or scuffed, the poor thing.
 
Planning on getting a towbar fitted to my shed, simply because the rear bumper has been hit 3 times in the last month by imbecilic drivers who cannot estimate parking widths. Loads of scratches, and not a single confession. Luckily its the shed, which has plenty of dinks. But a towbar, now that restores my belief in karma :D
 
I've returned to my daily a few times only to see that someone has destroyed their own car on my tow bar :rofl: . My daily is an old Honda HRV so the tow bar is pretty high up meaning if anyone hits it they usually make a very nasty mess of their bumper at a very visible level.
 
Yes towbars rock. Just had one fitted to the wife's Insignia. Definitely feel less vulnerable when being followed and when reversing in confined spaces as the visibility out of the back ain't that great.

Just got to remember the reversing sensors are not telling the whole truth now
