One less Z4MR...

It was brought to our attention due the rare nature of this car that it had suffered a standing impact while parked up. We have investigated this fully and are happy to say this car has been fully repaired and is HPI Clear. It has undergone an extensive health check with interdependent reports showing this car is perfectly fine and ready for its new owner.

Sounds fair enough. They could have just said "HPI Clear" (although I'm still not sure how that's possible). They probably need to lower the asking price by a couple of £Ks and be open to offers.

£16950.
Still got the ditch finder tyres fitted.

One if the more optimistic prices I've seen lately, especially for a crash damaged car...

Thing is we know about this car, but how many are out there that we don't know have been involved in an accident?

mmm-five for example probably sustained more damage but will be repaired.

Where do you draw the line?

Don't get me wrong though, what that forum member tried on here with it was completely wrong though.

tbh i agree.... id still be gutted if i got it however and found out like this.

As would I. Any potential buyer of this car does at least know and if did some research could find pictures of the damage. The garage might even provide them as it will show how light the actual damage was.

Who wouldn't want a 150,000 miles Z4MC with all new panels (n/s from scrape with truck about 5 years ago), new suspension, new clutch & flywheel, new wheels, etc. :P

Mine will probably be worth more than that Hexagon one :poke:

Interesting that it's had its hubs painted to make it look like it has newer brake discs... full of tricks!

Only recent example I could think of. Just trying to point out that in reality there maybe isn't really an issue with this car. In saying that though I would want the rear bumper cover removed at least to check behind to see if there is any damage that hasn't been repaired.

Agreed. But there is no chance an unsuspecting buyer would do that. Looking at the reality of the situation, it'll only come to the surface for the new owner if something (diff, brakes, wheel bearing) goes wrong. God forbid it does.

I wrote to the dealer who advertised the car... this is his update to me...

Hi Chris

Just to update you regarding the BMW Z4m we have in Carbon black.

We have relisted this car for sale today after a lengthy discussion with our team and checking over the car fully with an independent team.

They have taken the rear bumper off and checked nut and bolt to see what has been change or replaced. We also have carried out a full 4 wheel alignment and geometry check.

I have also contacted HPI which shows this car as not listed as an insurance write off which is correct.

Our thoughts is this car is 100% fine and has been correctly repaired after its accident. I know from looking at the pictures it looks a bit more graphic than what it actually is. Structurally there is no damage to the car and the chassis has not been compromised. I’ve taken pictures of all our work and findings to show the next potential customer if needed. You would struggle very hard to see that this car has had some paint work also, just the small difference in the paint work from the boot to the wing. Overall a very good job

I’ve seen cars is much a worst state that this been in the industry such a long time. I can understand maybe why the previous owner didn’t want to work repaired as its maybe not the same car again having owned it. But cars do have nocks and bangs from time to time and everything gets repaired these days. If I wasn’t 100% happy I wouldn’t be putting my name and reputation to this car.

We welcome also any further checks the new potential buyer may want to be carried out.

I was dreading the worst when you sent me this information and I am glad you did, but having driven the car myself now and had the green light from my team it’s nice to see another Z4m back on the road. The damage even though looked worse than is there was no reason to write the car off as a total lost. Hence why it’s been repaired correctly and is HPI clear. Very common these days.

Price wise can depend on what we paid for the car when it comes to advertising. Don’t be put off that we attract a higher price as that helps you guys for residual value when you come to sell. With ourselves been a business we need to achieve a higher price due to our overheads and VAT we pay on profit. We are going to market this car now at £16,950.00 With 1 year’s nationwide warranty due to the rare nature of the car.

The stats on the Z4m are as follows; There were 16,797 E85 vehicles registered in total, 604 of these are M Roadsters. Of the 604 M Roadsters, 10 are Carbon Black, of which 4 have Imola Red Nappa Leather. So our car is one of 4 registered Carbon Black with Imola Red M Roadsters out of 604 registered M Roadsters.

Thanks again and i am happy we can keep another on the road, these cars are very special and defiantly a future classic. Would buy more but never many for sale J

Have to agree. Guessing there will be lots of pictures to reassure any prospective purchaser to.

One dealer that gets a thumbs up from me.

Really nice to see that e-mail - not just his attitude towards the car, but also taking time to respond at length. Even if he's just doing it because he knows it will get quoted here, that's smart.

The pricing is still off though, I reckon. A well informed, enthusiast owner would want to pay at least a couple of grand less than that - their view would be that they are taking a calculated risk, no matter how small, and that should be reflected in the price. It wouldn't go to a collector because the mileage isn't low enough and it has changed hands too many times recently. Someone who isn't an enthusiast probably wouldn't care about CB/Imola rarity, so even if they have money to burn they are likely to pick another combo and a cheaper car that doesn't have known accident damage. So that leaves who? An enthusiast with money to burn who really likes CB/Imola?

+1 Can't be any fairer than that, seems like a decent dealership.

I now own this car

It is HPI clear, I wasn't aware of any accident damage when I bought it, but having seen this - I did get a full in-depth inspection done on the car. Noting it was originally repaired early 2016, just over a decade ago.

It has since had inspections at BMW and RBM. And not a single advisory in its MOT history.

I took it for a pre inspection last week, and the only issue was a halogen angel light bulb.

Following the in-depth inspection, it was highlighted the M rear bumper had been repaired with filler 🤮. This would be as the bumpers are nigh on impossible to source. Fortunately a new found friend has a genuine (used/ undamaged) Z4M rear bumper and I have acquired it. To perfect the historical repair.

I can categorically state it was not written off by the insurer and there is no category damage against it.

I plan to keep the car 10-15 years (till I can no longer get in and out of it!)

In that time, I will make this one of, if not the best example out there. I've already spent thousands on genuine OEM parts, and will continue to do so.

When the time comes to sell, the damage will be 20-25 years previous, with a meticulous ownership pre damage, full service history (but questionable ownership) between damage and my ownership, followed by a no expense spared period of ownership by myself.

I'm posting here, as I feel given the circumstances, and the fact I'll never hide this information, the car will be up there with the best.

It's finally found another owner who will respect it, and maintain it with no expense spared.

I'll be having a full nut and bolt tear down, bare metal respray in the factory carbon black over the next few months, with all new genuine trim pieces, as well as nuts and bolts sourced from Schneidermann.Screenshot_20260524-234537.png
