to me
Hi

Many thanks for this.

I have been emailed this already today in fact twice now. I have taken the car off sale until I carry out my checks.

I am looking at this in depth and will come back to you with my findings.

Thank you for emailing me this.

Kind Regards,
Ashley Allen

Officially not recorded as wrecked so no legal standing. If anyone wants a rebuild car is another matter of course ...

Bit of a quandary for the dealer though... . I wouldn't want to sell it on knowing its past history had a good chance of catching up with it...

Would think all he needs to do is check and prove the car has been repaired properly and to a high standard to justify his asking prices. He seems to deal in high end cars so doubt he wants to sell something sub standard. Anyone have any confidence that the previous owners did that before selling on? It had cheap written all over it... right down to the tyres fitted.

Just for reference the lower arm on the drivers side was completely snapped in the impact and the rear wheel appeared to be buckled at least to my eyes.

When replacing suspension parts, etc both sides should have been done IMO.

There was a chunk taken out of the front n/s wheel and the colour of the wheels was Mercury chrome which isn't standard so I'd also be checking that all matches.

Additionally if the front bumper hasn't been replaced the brackets behind that hold the grilles in were damaged and there was a hole in the bumper between the light and grille on the drivers side, clips were missing from the side skirt lowers.

Additionally taking the rear bumper off would reveal that the vent and some of the parts behind were damaged unless it's all been replaced. The rear bumper was also split badly again this would be revealed with the bumper off unless replaced.

Doing a bit of digging it appears if you buy the salvage is fr08mee did, there is a good chance it won't get recorded, which is what happened here. It appears insurance might class it as a payout for the owner to repair.

Not sure how true the above is, but does make you wonder how many other cars are running around like this.

Wonder if the garage will remove the rear bumper now yo check for damage. I'd put money on it being there still.

I sold the salvage for £5k so someone somewhere has made a fair bit.

To repair it properly id have wanted

Rear wing
Front bumper
Rear bumper
New set of tyres (two were punctured on opposite axels)
New rear wheel
Refurb of front n/s and rear to match the colour
Wheel arch cover
Trailing arm
Control arm, etc x2
Car would have required a whole side, rear bumper and front painting too.

Plus given the rear wheel and the impact I was worried about the diff and the exhaust being pushed back, etc.

Also wonder if the previous owner worked for an insurance company,,,, 8)

If the vehicle was portrayed as never having been crashed or undergone substantial repair and the vendor knew that to be untrue, then he's committed fraud. I suspect the dealer has more money to pursue league action than the most recent vendor has to defend against this.

Saw another ///M roadster on the back of a lorry today, front end smash. That's another one gone. Will see if I can get the reg off my dash cam.

Dark, it was 5:30 this morning on the M25 around Heathrow when it was pissing down. Caught me surprise.

So what you are really saying it was your car hitting the back of the lorry, and not on the back of it ...

been a little inactive for a while, so sorry to hear of the loss of some more cars...

and some great detective work going on with the attempts at reselling :o
