One less Z4MR...

Dayum, would have been interested in your aero skirts but one colour out. It won't match and respray price means that I'm sorry you've been taxi'd..

Gutted for you. Hope you get a good settlement

That's quite a big jump in valuation £10,180 to £15,000

If it's not too late, mine was listed at £16300 at Bmw, pretty much the same as yours.

Still have the pdf I got sent.

What a sad sight to be confronted with, especially when it's your P&J. I hope you get properly compensated, sounds like you're making a progress there.
Hopefully the guy gets at least some points in his licence for that. Good thing there were no pedestrians around

Fr08mee, that is a hellish thing to happen, especially when it was done twat on a mobile!! Hopefully you will get what the car is actually worth. Regards the original 224s,i would be interested in these also. Are they free from damage and corrosion /blisters as need to replace a couple of mine for that reason...would rather buy another set at the right price than repaint mine. Let me know, thanks, and all the best on getting a replacement z.

I can't believe that's been written off. But I guess with that transmission damage it depends where it failed/broke. If the chassis had been twisted/damaged I guess that could do it.

Echo the surprise at it being written off... not an assessor of course, so no doubt there are parts there that cost £££... but still, on an upwards of £15k car?

One thing to say, glad you're OK and nobody was hurt. It is "only" a piece of metal.

Very sad news mate you must be gutted!! What a plank of a taxi driver!!

Are you not interested in getting it back and fixing yourself?? It dose not look so bad. I am always shocked in what get written off!!

I can easily see why they'd write it off. It's often not jus the cost of the actual work, but the cost of providing a hire car for the 2/3 weeks that accompany the work. This can total £10k easily! I had a hire 2.5 Z4 for 8 days about 10 years ago and it was costing the insurance firm £400 a day.

I would be trying to buy that back :)

Shouldnt cost too much to get it back on the road, it will need to be put on a Jig to see if anything has been bent but i expect the chassis to be ok, would be a great shell for a project car if not, With engine and all bits intact and low milleage :)

Hope all goes well

Currently in the process of changing jobs so leaving my options open but hoping to return by getting back into an Z4M coupe :)

Given what I got for the salvage its not worth me trying to get it back on the road.

The bodywork alone using secondhand parts will be around £1.5k+ Including paint. It needs minimum front bumper, rear bumper, wing, rear light and then paint which would be upwards of £500 even at mates rates due to materials, etc.

I'd then require a new set of wheels and tyres £1k (or tidy my 224's up which would have a cost plus I can sell them).

Then there is the suspension damage which id look to replace both sides I.e shocks, springs, etc and the lower cast arm is completely snapped on the O/S plus it looks like the driveshaft may be bent (hard to tell due to the suspension damage, etc).

Also to my eyes it needs to be put on a Jig to be 100%.

I'd not want to throw £3k/£4k at the car plus a lot of work to then find the diff or transmission has issues... If they were to be inspected prior to returning the car to the road this would then have an associated cost too :)

If I had the space and time id have probable parted it out and kept the running gear for a project car I.e Westfield, caterham or tried to drop it into a classic body I.e a triumph GT6, etc.

Approximate repair costs were as follows.

Parts came to £5k+ VAT not including some bits like the front wheel on the first report, damage to bits behind the front bumper, etc. This was revised to about £6.5k + VAT after inspection.

Two wheels at £425, two tyres at £220, front bumper £516, rear bumper £700, rear lamp £250, rear wing £350 and rear right control arm £725, etc.

Labour £1400 + VAT

Paint £700 + VAT

Pulling/JIG £600 + VAT

Thats a sad sight indeed.. especially from some idiot on a phone - as they always say.. what if they had hit a kid? No doubt the driver will be let up with just a warning or a phone awareness thing.

To be honest i'm not surprised its written off... the car was hit with sufficient force to mount the curb, if the car was in gear while parked then the transmission could be damaged etc.

Hopefully it doensnt affect your future premiums too much; and good luck with its replacement.
