one for the zed geeks ?

I like my silver cover. It reminds me of the cast aluminium valve cover on the dual carb M30 I had years ago. There's enough black plastic under the bonnet as it is.

Not opened the bonnet to check mine yet (other than when I bought it), is that bad?

what ? how do you clean in there ?
Or check oil and water....

In the 5 months I've had it - BMW had to change the washer tank grommet so they topped that for me and never cleaned under the bonnet as I've done all of 1500 miles (rest of the time in the garage).

I will open it at some point

Thanks aquazi didnt even know there was no dipstick!

bluestreak56, can't believe you haven't opened the bonnet of your car, even just out of curiosity :?

I open mine every time I wash it to get the muck out of the shut lines

Mine is black

That's right. However, what most people don't know is that the silver ones were specially developed by the M division. The molecules in the plastic used in these silver covers were slightly further apart, meaning that these items were lighter than the 'standard' black ones. Cars equipped with the silver covers therefore have a lower centre of gravity, with the roadholding benefits that this brings. True story.

Hmmmm I don't believe this.

It's true. They can't paint it as that would add weight, as would dye in the plastic, so they rely on moving the molecules further apart to change the refraction of light and therefore the perceived colour. It's on the web so it has to be true.
