One for the guitar players

I think the debate on pick ups (noiseless or otherwise) is like the debates on here with engines, coupe etc etc, I think a lot of it comes down to the style of music you play, if you like a clean biting sound, the noiseless are going to be great, if you want to play like a Yngwie Malstien they are not lol,
I am very much into the Gary Moore/Rory Gallagher style of playing, so I do play a HSS strat, which I love, but also a Les Paul Standard, but then again I love that too,,,
I played one of the new PRS SE edition guitars the other day, and that was something else and only £499!!! very under priced for the quality and sound

My daughter has a Stat like that sunburst ..(I think that’s what they call it) ..? But it has a black finger board and rosewood fret board.

Nice Rickenbacker TitanTim  I used to dabble when I was younger, had a few different guitars. A Vantage, Westone and Aria Knight Warrior

I'm a massive Steve Vai fan since his Frank Zappa days, seen him many times over the years in Alcatrazz, Whitesnake etc and solo, so his ' Passion and Warfare' Ibanez Jem is the ultimate guitar to me :D

Many thanks, I acquired the Ricky last year, a bit of an impulse buy but the guy selling it had only just bought it and couldn't get on with the neck so was selling it for a bargain price so snapped it up. Great chord guitar but difficult for lead, I've got my eye on a Gretsch Streamliner in the near future, great value :)

Tim.

Very nice Ricky Tim, I wanted a 620 in fireglo like yours but so hard to come by, I had to settle for a mapleglo.

I agree with your comments about difficulty using the Ricky for lead, but great for rhythm, I love to crank out Tom Petty and Traveling Wilburys stuff on it.

Thanks John, I was originally after a 350 V63 but a bit pricey so then looked for a 330 but then the 620 turned up on ebay described as brand new with case for 1100 so risked it and turned out to be a good buy, the seller undersold it somewhat I reckon :)

Tim.

Some of the guitars I use although a Gibson SB 650 has been added to the line up.

Also predominately play through a Two-Rock Studio Pro 35 if anyone on here is into amps :)

I play about 200 gigs a year hence the collection :P

That Two Rock amp is the stuff of legends, you don't see many of those about. I bet you don't get that in the zed!

200 gigs a year? I get about 2! We have one coming up in two weeks time at a local pub, I'm getting nervously excited.

Good luck with the gig Dr John,,
200 gigs a year, that's quite a few, we only manage about 30 a year, mind you I guess it depends what sort of band your in, a friend of mine who plays weddings etc, plays about 200 a year, when you are a rock band, the venue numbers drop considerably

Thanks for the good wishes.

It's very true what you say about rock bands, that's what my band is (60s/70s rock and blues covers). Venues for this type of music are getting few and far between sadly.

Wow Tim that was a steal at £1100, I paid almost twice that for my 620 :(

I snapped the guys hand off, however the sale was slightly fraught as he wanted payment outside of ebay via bank transfer but I said no, Paypal or forget the sale, take it or leave it. There was no way I was going to transfer money to a stranger. The chap said he wasn't going to pay PayPal fees so I just said let me know if you change your mind. 10 minutes later he messaged me to say he reluctantly would accept a PayPal payment. I did the Payment but then received a message from the seller saying f**k ebay and thanks for trusting him. Apparently ebay had withheld payment until he sent the item off to me, I guess this is to stop fraud and to cover me. The guy wasn't a happy bunny. Anyways once I had told ebay I had received the item the paypal payment was then released. I don't know why the guy was saying thanks for trusting him etc, I just said put yourself in my shoes, would you do a bank transfer to a stranger

It was probably a sarcastic thanks

Yes, sounds like sarcasm. PayPal take 3.4% and eBay take 10%, so that’s a hefty chunk out of £1100.

However I wouldn’t have paid by bank transfer either, could have been some Nigerian con man.

Emmmmm guilty

But these are only the ones I am prepared to admit to - thank god I only have a single garage and one parking space else I would have more cars ( and no wife!!)

Very nice collection there Sparky

That's the beauty of a guitar collection, unlike cars, the wife doesn't have to know how many :D "honestly dear, I have had that one for years"

Love the Steve Harris style jazz. I have two of of his basses myself, the sparkle one and the West Ham one. Big Ricky fan too. Have 2 of those too. My jetglo was made the same month as me, July 1982 which is pretty cool. Here’s a few of mine. I have bit of an addiction.
