It's a strange one that. Looks good from the outside but it has a lot which will hold back the value massively (probably). It has the original Z3 bootlid, with a grp skin over the top. The wheels are not good (you can see the studs and it hasn't got proper eared spinners).

It's a South African import which reduces value. It is UK registered (got a valid MOT) but is down as a silver Z3. Don't know how it got a UK MOT as it stands being registered as a Z3 TBH. That needs changing with the DVLA which could be a massive problem for the buyer unless there are full build details with it.

It's an auto. Not good. It's got a hashed up Z3 interior with just the main gauge pod changed and the centre air vent changed for gauges which is odd.

Quite a few bits which are not right but will be interesting to see as it is the same model Z3 as mine and has relatively low mileage (as long as it can be proven from it being an import).

If done properly it should reach at least £60k, but that one has too many 'issues' to get near that IMO.

But thanks for the link Tim. Always interesting to see the competition.

Thought it looked quite good fron the exterior pics but the interior is a bit off putting as plainly a Z3, looks kinda strange. I guess it's how far you go to hide the cars origins. Interesting though and the asking price.

Are you changing the exhaust note Pondy?
The exhaust will be changed from the cat back to a twin pipe (quad outlet). It will be bespoke made, so I will chat to the exhaust people when the time comes. It will need to be louder than the standard M54 exhaust, but not too much. It is the very last thing to do, so a way off yet.

At first sight, it looks very nice, but on 2nd inspection you start to notice the attention to detail is missing, panel gaps don't look even, the rear light cluster doesn't sit flush with the body. As mentioned by pondy, the interior really lets the car down, the seats and the instrument cluster really let the car down. For me, personally I think there is far too much of the Z3 dna still there to call it a good replica.

I don't really understand why they have gone to quite a lot of effort on the interior but not enough. It still has the Z3 centre console, with just a few switches changed. It has new door cards but they have left the Z3 door openers and it should have (at least fake) window winders.

The only thing I can think of is that the original customer ran out of money so the interior was bodged.

It's the details that make these kind of cars worth a lot of money, or not much at all IMO. They are not cheap to build, so why not do it properly?

I couldn't agree more, those were my thoughts entirely. Its a shame really, nobody likes seeing a poop looking replica, let alone contemplate buying one :D

At a glance that's a right pretty little thing. As with others the devil is in the detail though.

The panel gaps around the doors are pretty good, but the bonnet and boot gaps are uneven (and if you can spot them from a photo they will be worse in the flesh).
The offside rear light cluster is wonky (sign of a poor body mould or twisting due to incorrect fitting or storage), but is easy to rectify during prep for painting. That hasn't been done.

The bootlid skin is a concern for me, as I am pretty sure I know where that body came from (it isn't hand made by someone in South Africa despite what the bullshit ad says). And if it did come from where I think it did, it will be terrible. Even worse than mine, and mine isn't good.

This one was built by someone I know (cos I buy some bits from him). Look at the difference to the one above.

That looks so much better!

As you say if you're going to do it you might as well do a proper job. Hopefully yours will be stunning.

I think you're being extremely critical of your own work. From what I can see from this in comparison to your own is that your car is far from finished. But on the plus side, you have addressed many of the common problems associated with a build of this sort. Your attention to detail, yes has been frustrating, and a pita but the rewards are there to see even at this stage of the build. I honestly don't think you should be so hard on yourself, your doing a great job, and I'm sure I speak for most on the forum. I wouldn't even look at a brochure, let alone attempt to build a replica Ferrari in my garage. As Mike Tyson once said "discipline is doing what you hate to do, but do it like you love it". Keep going, stay meticulous.

The interior on this one makes all the difference, especially from behind the wheel.

Well presented and then they have mud all over the place, surprising.

The differences between the two is huge though on the detail.

“Mud all over the place”. Welcome to the U.K. I live in the Forest of Dean and it’s muddy everywhere from sep to May! And worse this year….. tractors wider than the lanes
