One camber pin missing... Issue?

Evening all,

My MR had the alignment done after new tyres, just before I bought it. Came to fit some strut covers today and noticed the drivers side camber pin is missing.

I've seen a few posts on here suggest removing these for more negative camber up front, but as I'm new to RWD I'm worried about any modifications to a standard suspension setup.

It's clear the strut has moved, so even if I bought a new pin I'd need to take it somewhere to realign and replace the pin...

Thoughts? Remove both and have it setup?

Hi

Do you mean the allen looking bolt/screw thats on the strut top? :?

If so then both of mine were removed when i had my alignment carried out.

It's not something you can replace as such. You would need to get a new top hat or what ever they are called, part 1 in the diagram below.

However there is a chance it was removed to get the alignment right.

Thanks both.

Stu, yes precisely the part. I presumed it was for that reason. What alignment settings did you go with?

Thanks SRHutch - so presume it doesn't make a difference it being missing? Ie it's not going g to move anywhere?!

Makes no difference as far as I understand the pins are there to allow the allignment to be carried out by machine on the production line and don't serve any purpose as such.

I had mine pulled, had the allignment done and the car felt much better. Additionally having less toe in stopped the scrubbing on the inside of the tyres and the car felt sharper with more negative camber. I'm not indoors at the minute so don't have my settings to hand :)

I asked for a standard set up, see before:-

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, i had a bit of trouble with uploading the pics :x

Hi guys,

Just to bump this as have a question about fitting an M3 strut brace.

One camber pin is missing, as above. If I remove the other, will the camber of that strut adjust? Or is it just a check point from factory and removing this thing screw not affect anything?

If there's any slotting on the strut top mounting holes in the wing the pin is there purely to get consistent camber settings at factory build time.

Perfect, thanks. So not an issue to remove for strut fitting I presume in that case.
