On the look out for E89 hard top auto, 3.0 Roadster

Hello

From my research on here I think I have narrowed down my requirements (but being a newbie I am sure I will have missed something!):

I am on the look out for an E89 hard top auto, 3 litre. Age 2009 (when they started I understand) and would prefer have the following:

Heated seats, parking sensors, seat adjustment to lower it, decent headlights
Preferably in space grey or black exterior, maybe white in colour
Been well looked after (goes without saying on this Forum !)
Not too worried about Satnav

I have a budget of £9k although I have yet to look at the insurance costs yet.

Based in Bristol but willing to travel for the right car.

I doubt many E89 owners on here would be prepared to sell you their pride and joy for 9k. You may well have to increase your budget or look elsewhere.

at 9k you may scrape in on a 30i
i paid a bit more for one on 54000 miles , with most of the options i want, but had to travel and negotiate hard.

Thank you for the feedback which is helpful.
Happy to travel. I will keep on looking on here.

I am also looking on Piston heads, Autotrader, Ebay, Gumtree, motors.co.uk, RAC,AA. Is there any others I should be looking at please?

Thanks

you look to have most of the options covered.
dont be afraid to pitch in a low offer.
they can only say no.
people usually price high, expecting to be knocked down.
its a good time to buy.

i turned up to view mine with cash, but was prepared too walk away.
allowed for refurb on the scuffed rims, swapping out the runflats etc.
generally best to go view if it ticks the boxes, and then negotiate.
amazing what the site of hard cash will do.

Good advice, mich appreciated .

I also have realised just wanting an auto does restrict me but that’s what I would prefer.

There is only one on Autotrader at your budget. https://www.hertsandessexmotorcompany.co.uk/vehicle/bmw-z4-30i-sdrive-2dr-in-hoddesdon-hertfordshire-9a305e4c-5e90-476f-953d-a9a500f72606 You tend to pay a bit more for an auto although they are not everyone’s taste.

I wanted a low mileage car (under 40 thousand) sports seats, heated seats, automatic, front & rear parking aids, folding mirrors, iDrive with sat nav and 3 litre engine. I got it all but it cost me near £12k.

Many thanks for the link .

That one is on my short list . It’s got slightly more miles on it than I would like so waiting to see what else comes up.

Out of interest did you want the built in Satnav as you prefer it to a smart phone version ? It was one of my considerations but for me I found I was using my smartphone more as it was more upto date than the one in my 330d. However , it is nicer built in

i would personally try to get one with the m sport seats, they are a lot better imho

Had not considered the seating. The ones in the ad looked ‘sporty’ but guess they are not the ones you refer to. I will have to try it, thanks.

Also the ad refers to a space saver spare wheel. I thought all E89s had no spare tyre as there is no space for them!?

I have an iPhone with CoPilot and a couple of free nav apps on it. Our XF has built in navigation and for some reason I prefer using the built in system if I can. I’m not sure why! I’ve updated the maps on the E89 to 2018 as when I bought it they were still the originals. The BMW will be living in France for part of the summer so I will use the navigation system on the way down and while we are there. All depends on what you want I suppose.

Whatever you decide the E89 is a fantastic car and i’m sure you will enjoy owning one. :D

The ones in the ad are the normal Z4 seats. See photo below. The E89 did not come with a space saver so I doubt it has one. With the roof down the space is somewhat limited anyway never mind with a space saver. The tyres on mine are not run flat so I carry a container of slime and a small tyre pump.

Ok thank you.

I have asked them to clarify the spare tyre and indeed , what tyres are in the car. If they are run flat I will ask if they are willing to swap for non run flats!
