Hi,
I'm not really suicidal, but am on the hunt for a Z4 having sold my Golf GT TDI earlier this week :)

I have up to £9k to spend so am hoping to pick up something nice for that price, and have been scouring all the usual sales websites for the past couple of weeks.
One thing I've noticed in my search is that prices vary significantly for similar age of car. i understand mileage and condition can affect price, but imo the general spec of a car is very important to the owner, but mostly is only niceties for prospective purchasers, not 'must haves'. the only 'must have' on my list is heated seats, as a warm bum is a happy drive :)
So should these extras have such a great bearing on the price? For example, the Parkers guide values one model at around £7k, but one I saw was for sale at around £9.5K! Am I missing something, or is Parkers guide completely out of touch?

Anyways, enough ramblings, off to do some some virtual searching and hope to be posting about a purchase very soon, as the cash I got for my car is burning a hole in my pocket!!!

Hi, ive just bought mine, its a 2004 2.2i, covered 40k miles, heated leather, 18" wheels paid 8k for it, id be interested to know if you think i paid too much, or if thats a decent price, its in nice condition inside and out ?

Mine is a 3.0, 2003. I bought it in April for £9250. I have seen them at all sorts of prices down to £6k! The market is all over the place and you could easily depress yourself if you thought you paid too much. Take a look at the Porsche market, you can buy loads of early Boxters for less than£7k, although they will need lots of money spending to get up to scratch. What you do know is that whatever money you pay for your Z4, it will be worth £3k less this time next year, so don't worry about the dosh, just drive it!

I'd echo TeePee's comment, but also I guess that if you're happy with what you paid for the car you now have, then it's good value!
Funnily enough I also considered a Boxster as a friend is selling one so got me thinking in that direction. Drove a 2000 reg 3.2S, which was a lovely drive, but for me the Z4's styling as well as the power of the 3 litre won me over.

Now I just need to find the right one! Tried calling up a couple from autotrader this morning but got no replies and no response to messages left yet either. Do people not want to sell their cars?!!! :?

Welcome to the Forum. There's a pre purchase checklist link in my signature which may help as you look. Good luck.
