OMG non run flats AMAZING!

I know this has been said before.. and i heard this countless times on the forum and i thought people were just exaggerating.. however all i can say what a difference!

I have gone from stock 108's with RFT's to staggered 19" Vredstein Ultrac (265/30 and 235/35) so less rubber and the ride is totally different its actually silent with no crashing and no virtually no tramlining.

I am not surprised the springs on these snap so often with those runcraps.

Now all i need to work out is how to store my tire goo neatly in the boot!

Yeh Ive just changed to Falkens 452 under the advise of Phil and they are so much better. Going over pot holes and speed bumps is now nearly a pleasureable experience. :driving:

Are the 108's not 18" rims? :? Did you replace the alloys as well ?

+1

If you`ve replaced the rims with 19`s, bud, let`s have a look, as I have 108`s on mine, and I`m always interested to see what others have replaced them with.

As for the runflats, yep, the one and ONLY thing I don`t like on mine, but it`s not a Z4-thing, as such, more like some numpty`s fault in BMW`s R&D dept that thought it would save lots of money somewhere......... :x

I have two cans of Holts Tyre goo in one of the BMW Oil Pack packets which keeps it all nice and neat and velcro'd to the side.

Yep changed my wheels.. got some Velocity VMR 710's.

No fitted pictures yet as my car was insanely dirty... but will give it a clean tomorrow and post some pics. The reason i picked the Vredstein was because they offer decent rim protection which Falkens do not.. and they were £50 cheaper for the set then Eagle F1's from camskill.. and rated better in reviews... not had a chance to push them yet though... but i loved the Eagle F1's in my old car so these better be good!

I have no space next to my battery, so for the time being my compressor will be behind my passenger seat and the holts i have in an oil bag in the boot (which used to have a 1l bottle of oil - but no need in carrying that)

An off car pic... my black and silver carbon center caps dont fit... so will need to stick with blue for now:

Ditto just ditched the RFTs for Falken 452s, I went cross country on a road I previously avoided because it's ruts and cambers threatened to chuck you in the ditch - revelation :D

Def overly paranoid about curbs now... driving like miss daisey in narrow street! :driving:

Some fitted pics in my other post:

I too definitely like it on the soft side! I had the first three years of the car leased so couldn't influence the tyre choice but bought at the end and that was the first thing that I changed. Only thing I miss is the adrenaline rush when it used to tramline and I thought I was going to lose it

Do you have any pic's a bit more side on showing the rim protection offered by the Vred's so that I can compare them to the Falken's I currently have fitted as they are on my list of possible replacements.

Cheers.

I'll get some tonight...

But look very similar to the lip on the Eagle F1's.

What size tyres are you running on yours with your Eibachs? I have decided that i think i need to a drop now.. but the front dont look too bad on Sport springs.. but the rears look like a 4x4!

Thanks,

As for tyres I'm running the same sizes as you have quoted 235/35 & 265/30 Falken 452's, but I'm sure on here someone (Mr Whippy I think) once stated that (and I forget which size exactly) there was something like 10 - 15mm diference between Goodyears & Falkens with the Goodyears being the wider tyre. I had had no problems until on Skye recently when I did experience some rubbing on some of there more extreme roads where the suspension travel was working overtime.

Some pics of the rim protection (i know my car is dirty but it was clean when i left it a few days ago and it must have rained since!):

Thank's, those Vred's must be 20mm wider than the Falkens, definately going to make the change when I need new tyres.

So Vreds offer more rim protection thanks falkens, or is it just because you have a wider vred tyre? I am fed up kerbing my wheels, done it twice, last time I didn't realise there was a kerb as it was hidden :(

The design of the Falkens have very little lip on the sidewall, which is the only reason i didnt go for them... Eagle F1's have a pretty decent rim protection too.... if you hit a curb they wont save your alloy.. however if you go into a pot hole they will minimise the metal taking the hit
