Just let him drive when your in the car. If my dad had a cool car when I was 21 (he had a Nissan bluebird) I would have been happy to use it with him. Good on ya if he is anything like me at that age he will be very happy with just the fact that you trust him that much. And will be bloody terrified about damaging it any way

I would do the same. Just share with him the pleasure to drive.

Insurance really isn't an issue if you choose carefully!

Let's just say that I got "comfortable" after the second drive and I'm still amazed I haven't crashed it. I've also decided that at the age of 19 now, I need something with little bit more power so managed to get my hands on a 3.0l coupe.

The first car my son ever drove, was my Fiat Coupe 20VT. He was 12 I think. Best to get them used to a bit of power nice and early.

I've recently had a renewal on the GT86 with 1 year NCB and it cost me £854 for 10 month policy, I will be getting charged £200 extra to change the insurance to my 3.0l Coupe. The best thing I can suggest for someone my age is to use confused.com on daily basis and save the reference numbers for lowest quotes, the prices vary depending on what time and day you submit your application. The renewal which I've received through the post from admiral was over 2k and I've managed to find a quote with the same company few days latter at £854. :?

You must live in a pretty safe place to get insurance that cheap.

Nothing wrong with any age driver in any car, just depends on their experience and mentality.

I had a 2.5 z4 when I was 21 he'll be fine. Just make sure he takes care of it ie in car parks, how he washes it etc..

I bought my M Coupe last year at 21, I was rather careful initially as it was a pretty big outlay but really once he has driven it a few times I don't think there is anything to worry about except maybe in car parks.

I can vouch for that, I'm 20 and when buying my car, found the Z4 3.0, Porsche Boxster 2.7 and Mercedes SLK 3.0 all to be around £850, bizarrely a TVR Chimaera 400 was £150 CHEAPER than those three and a Chevrolet Corvette C5 was £100 more, I'm still trying to figure out why the Corvette was so cheap.. (relativly speaking)
