OME CD CHANGER ISSUES

Hi folks,
The CD changer doesn't seem to connect with the main CD unit on the dash, I can see the changer cycling through the CD,s and it makes noises like it trying to do something but I can seem to get the CD 2....3...4....5...6 icon come up on the head unit, it just plays the CD in the head unit and nothing else, I've tried looking I the manual but still can't get it to play the CDs in the changer unit........and ideas anyone?

Silly question but have you pressed the mode button to cycle the head unit to cdc

Probably not a silly question, I'll retry doing this later, the CD isn't full of discs but I've assumed it doesn't have to be?
