Olympics opening ceremony

Well the brilliant spectacle of the opening ceremony has certainly enthused me for the games, highlights for me was the forging of the rings, Mr Bond and Her Maj, the fabulous petals forming the cauldron and eclipse with fireworks, just brilliant. Well done Danny you made us proud to be British

Same here Sars, I had colleagues in other countries sending messages last night saying they were watching and loving it. Although did have a few "what the hell is that"? Type of questions
For once it is good to be British

On the whole a good ceremony

Liz could have smiled though.

The worst bit (and it's the same at every national event) which had the potential to ruin the whole thing is the insistence on wheeling out that talentless old pensioner duffer (McCartney) to wail one of his 30 year old tunes out of date..........

An excellent ceremony. Enjoyed the opening sequence, the humour, the music and the formalities.

Didnt get the NHS section though (or the GB kit)

I did think at one point that his flabby face was going to fall off - I would have much prefered to have another rendition from Jimmy page

What you mean you didn't realise that we always dance like that on the wards :) ?

They never did when I used to work there (maybe they hid it from me knowing I was their Finance guy )

Well, anyone up yet?

Overall there were some moments last night that made me think it's going wrong, though looking back, thinking about the greater scheme of things over how much Danny B crammed into that +3 hour show, some of it being inspirational, to put it all together with many moments of genius, take my hat off to ou fella.

Loved it , a little lost around the NHS section and agree with others Paul wrong choice but over all well done Britain , love to see the views of our foreign forum friends

I've just had a read of a couple of papers whilst sitting in a waiting room, and reading it through gave me goosebumps - thought it was fantastic last night, still think it was fantastic

Agree that Liz could've smiled a bit, but man that athlete's parade lasted an age - had to wake Wee Bing up for Becks and the cauldron. I would have liked to see the Red Arrows throw a move right over the stadium 8) (but they probably weren't allowed to for safety :( )

The cauldron is a work of engineering genius as well as art, loved it.

I'm sure I lip read Liz saying "one is bored shitless" as she picked at her fingernails.

Overall, brilliant.

Probably worried one of the SAM's would have gone off and took one of them out

Thought the opening ceremony was excellent, just one thing that kind of annoyed me was when they went round the British Isles and had Kids singing, Here in Scotland they chose to have some school kids Singing Flower of Scotland outside Edinburgh Castle, Which to be honest I thought was a bit crap when you consider what our national Anthem is about.
Apart from that, well done Danny boy

I'm not an Olympics advocate but really impressed with the whole opening show - loved that it was so British and has inspired me to watch some events - although as yet Team GB have lost out on all the ones they were hyped up to win - usual story. Scandal about all the corporate empty seats not available to the public. Felt sad and embarassed for Macca - saw him live at our Festival just 3 years or so ago - brilliant then and had 70,000 people of all ages rocking for 2 1/2 hours non stop - clearly should have stopped then while he was still at the top!!

Stll feel the money spent could have been put to better use though.

I wanted to see the opening ceremony but missed it due to a storm taking down the cable service for a number of hours.

Thought it was really good myself

There is an album on iTunes with some decent tracks on it for a tenner too.
